@Magic City Brewfest. Dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt and raisins. Medium body roasted malts with belgium yeastyness and spice notes. A unique spin on a saison.

Dark mahogany with big, foamy, fine-bubble, beige head, good legs / Delicate, muted, musty nose of orchard & dark fruit / Light body, just a touch thin, acidic, some initial sweetness then dry in the middle with some woody astringency, and fine bitter finish / Elegant, light flavors of apple, grape, balsamic vinegar, date, molasses, smoke, rose hip, chrysanthemum, oak / In this acidic style of saison, it lacks the punch of the best (e.g., Jolly Pumpkin), but itís a brew worthy of contemplation, on the porch on a summer day.

Almost black pour with a khaki head. Peppery and roasty nose. Some hints of vinegar, lots of anise, grass, and grape. Quite dry, maybe a little tea. Nice aroma. The flavor is a little less impressive. Very roasty and acetic. Grape soda, pepper, black tea, and lots of grass. Fairly dry and very highly carbonated.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted grain, herbs for the hops, musty for the yeast, with hints of sour apple, vinegar and faint dark dried fruit. Head is large, frizzy /frothy, light tan with darker swirls, with good slippery lacing and good legs, and is mostly lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts heavily acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter, and a bit acetic. Palate is medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. The dark color belies the light, tart, and refreshing qualities of this tasty Saison.

Bottle from Knightly. This pours a dark cola color with a thick khaki head. The aroma is roasted malt, banana ester, clove, light ash, and chocolate. Going down the carbonation is noticeably high. The flavor shows a tangy lemon taste with black tea; yeasty notes, and roasted malt in the finish. This isnít bad but thereís a solvent thing going on, thatís consistent throughout, that isnít all that pleasant. I think if the abv were higher that would be unbearable. But this is drinkable enough with some decent other flavors.

Sample pour of deep dark with full khaki head. Nose is roasted malt and light spice. Flavor is roasted fully with some spices and light sweet malts. Not fantastic, but a decent black saison. Still not my go to style

Bottle shared at Chrisí pad. Cloudy brown pour with an off white head. Malty aromas. Sourish malt and yeast notes. Somewhat bland and uninspiring.

750mL shared at Grape and Grain Exchange in San Marco, Jax, FL. Pours a muddy, deep cola with weaker heavier foam. Nose is all vinegar and pickle. Heavily salty and acetic. Taste is very minty, extremely herbal, cocoa, and quite medicinal. Dirty, earthy lemon tea palate. I was forced to drink 3 personsí glasses since no one enjoyed this. Oh well.

Bottle at Maxís Taphouse. Pours clear black with a medium, creamy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy wheat and rye malt with dates and figs, Belgian yeast spices and pepper notes. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters, spices and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with thin, creamy beige head; decent retention and spare lacing. Aroma is vinegar, roasted malts, light eggs, caramel, plums, raisins, and light leather. Flavor is roast malts forward with supporting sour dark fruit, light ash, leather, light coffee, and faint earthy hops; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.
