Acetone, effervescence, and earthiness. Two of those things are fine. Acetone in the aroma and in the taste. An unpleasant offering from a fine brewer. Perhaps a bad batch? Who knows. Won’t be trying this again.

Dark amber pour. Aroma was cherry, funky, leather, apple. The taste was more bready and roasted malts, but still not very saison like. Very dry feel. Interesting.

@ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear dark mahogany with a big, long-lasting frothy head, fluffy strands of lace. Taste is totally sour ale in a dark package, almost to the point of being a gose. When I read "Farmhouse Ale" on the bottle, I wasn’t prepared for more than a straw or light golden color, and the brisk sweet lemon grass and wheat that goes with it. This isn’t it. Not bad in its own right, but it required an attitude adjustment, after which I felt it was a decent brew. Drink at your own risk.

From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a fair amount of head. Spicy malty flavor with a quick finish.

Brought back from New Orleans. 2012 cork. Poured into Spigleau tulip. Pours black. Clear but opaque. About a finger or two of a nice thick light toffee colored head. Aged funk smell, with a tartness most like sour apple. Funk is earthy. There's almost no malt in the nose except for perhaps giving the tart funk a bit of an oak smell, maybe leather. The yeast is present in the form of an overarching spice and very faint fruity esters. Initial flavor is the tart funk but the malt arrives very quickly. Very tasty malt flavor of dark chocolate, toffee, caramel and some biscuit. The beer finishes with a great mix of the dominate flavors and just the right amount of hop bitterness. Finishes extremely crisply. This is like a bitter dark chocolate covered tart apple (Granny Smith). The malt flavor is what lingers on the tongue but the saison elements are evident in how dry it finishes, leaves you wanting another sip. Mouthfeel is perfect: nice carbonation, good light medium saison body, leaves the mouth feeling dry. Very good overall. Liked it more as it warned. Great call to pair it with a pot roast. Could easily spread a bottle across a hearty and earthy dinner through an apple pie or apple crisp dessert. Something with caramel would be pretty cool to play on the covered apple flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle… Pours a cloudy burnt-caramel with a mid-sized, off-white head. The nose is malty and fruity. Medium-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor is tangy and roasty with a subtle cherry component. A bit bland overall. Finishes lightly bitter and fruity. Overall, a touch mundane. Nothing wrong. Technically great. Just falls short in flavor and body. Bob is a great brewer, but his stuff is too subtle for me. Not a bad thing. I’m into all things “extreme.” Saint Somewhere is the brewery for you if you’re into “almost.”

Bottle from Whole Foods PM. turbid dark brown with off-khaki head. Nosse is yeasty figgy esters, roasty malt, raisins, . Tastes of yeasty fruit, earthy figs, mild cacao, tobacco, and a fairly complex finish.

Bottle shared by Barry at tasting, pours dark plum with massive head. Aroma and taste of dark cherry, rust, and weird yeast. This is not good, most of us drain poured.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4918) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 11, 2013
From the September 2013 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a huge creamy tan head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty, chalky and faintly tart. The flavor was chalky, sweetish and musty with touches of white pepper, yeasty and black food coloring. Medium length dryish musty and chalky finish with lingering black food coloring. Blah.

Lubiere (9998) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2013
A hazed dark brown saison with a thick collapsing mocha head. In aroma, very herbaceous and grassy malt with bitter chocolate, light Brett, dirt, interesting. In mouth, a nice fruity sour chocolate with light lactic points, Brett, foliage, off but in a nice way.
