Bottle from Beer Store. Tang and tart. Malt and yeast. Citrus and dark fruits. Very fruity. Spice and floral. This beer is all over the place. Balanced and clean. Light body and duration. Sweet but earthy.

Pours a darkish red/brown. Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smokey dark fruit. Also has strong hints of spice and orange.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with large beige head that lasts. The aroma is earthy malt and spice. Medium mouth, roast, fruity malt, light finish, odd.

Shared 25.4 oz. bottle. 2014 vintage. Pours a dark murky mahogany with a large beige head that’s initially quite fizzy. Aroma of fermented grape, sour cherry, funk, mildew and vinegar. Taste is earthy, musty, oxidized red wine, rust, funk, dark malt, and dark fruits . Loads of acidity and sourness, combined with an ashy and burnt bitter element make for a rather unsavory concoction. Skip this one.

Aroma: sour, a little funky with cherry notes; some malt; Appearance: black with initially billowy head that dissipates quickly; Taste: simultaneously sour, tart and bitter -- and not in a good way; Palate: medium body with finish continuing theme of sour/bitterness; Overall: going to be tough to make it through. Wouldn’t buy again.

2014 bottling. Pours opaque nut brown, maybe some red in it. Soapy 1-finger bone-colored head that was gone quickly. Aroma of earthy yeast mixed with nutty malt and a touch of char. Body is medium and lightly oily. Dry finish with a touch of astringency. A touch of char up front, giving way to flavors of nutty malt and some sour cherry.

Pours cola brown with a tan head. Funky aroma with some roasted malt, Complex flavor with touch of funky tartness, chocolate, and bread. Very nice beer.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2015 Bottle: 2012 cork. Black pour, slight dark brown around the edges. Quickly forming, chunky khaki foam with good retention. Creamy lacing. Aroma is very funky. Loaded with Brett. Tons of old, musty cotton, damp driftmood, mildew, cobweb, barnyard floor, wet hay. Wow. Hint of dark, roasted malt & a touch of black cherry. Taste is even more of a Brett bomb than the aroma. HUGE notes of damp & musty cotton, old moldy cellar floor, musk, & old hay. Slight hints of astringent cherry skin, maybe pineapple. Not really tart, but very moderately fruity. Dark malt is very faint, but lingers in the background. Super dry finish. Cotton-mouth dryness. Finishes like an old cotton blanket. Perhaps the brettanomyces have taken this one over a bit too much. Super lofty, effervescent mouth feel.
