A low-abv citra stout from Belgian? Well that certainly raises the bar. It looks really well, for a start, with black body and voluptuous beige head. Lots of roasted malts, coffee, touch of rye and sweet hops. Drinks smoother and lighter than expected, but with a sharp bitter edge, like cacao. Very full for a 4.5% beer. So yes, a very successful experiment if you ask me. (75cl bottle from Dranken Geers)

Vacation 2013 @ Virton, Belgium. 75 cl. bottle @ the bungalow, bought @ the local Delhaize supermarket.

Black with a dense tan head. Roasted malts and citrus hops aroma and taste. Good bitterness and a good strong mouthfeel considering its low ABV. Nice stout!

Bottle @ Home - share with friends. Color: dark opaque beer with small carbonization and small brown head. Smell: strong malt domination with small hops nose. Taste: good malt equilibrium and with a nice hoppy taste. Aftertaste: nice bitterness and malty presence.

Draught @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere. Pours a black colour a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, tar, citrus and grass. Flavour of roasted malts, citrusy bitterness, hay, tart grapefruit, some caramel and bread. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a lingering roasty and bitter finish. Rather heavy for such low ABV.

Tap @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere.
Pours black color with a small, creamy and steady beige head. Aroma of yeast, toasted malts, dark ripe fruits and some sourish dark berries, some subtle barnyard notes also. Flavour of dark malts, earth, yeast, sorish fruits and mild spice notes. Not your typical stout with the barnyardy notes but decent anyways.

Draught @ Gastropub Tuulensuu
Aroma is sweetish with roasted notes, fruit candy, some urinal cake and hints of tobacco. Flavour is a bit unusual with hops, some gooseberry bush, urinal cake (maybe even some urea!) and roasted notes. Lactic notes at the end of the glass. A Belgian sour(ish) stout with extra hops. Unusual but good.

Tasted this beer @ WBF - Bles evening end. jan. 2012. Dark brown with an oak head. Strange combination, a stout with Citra hops... Aroma: quite hoppy. Full body. Taste: stout with lots of citrus, good hop notes. Nice beer.

Pours dark brown with three fingers of thick tan head. Smells of malts, hops, and caramels. Taste has mellow malts, hops, bitter, caramel, and alcohol. Is short on the palate with light carbonation.

Very stable, dense, nearly solid cream-coloured head, leaving shards of lace over deep dark brown beer with orange reflections. Aromatic hoppy nose, with hops that are clearly anything but English, as suggested by the label. Roasted notes too, evidently. Aromas are seriously hampered by the quasi solidifying head. Bitter, roasted, weak coffee, galls/ink. Not very refined. Hints at roasted malts essentialy retronasal getting also a tad peppery. Maybe medium bodied; velvety head, slightly creamy MF overall. "Bland" might be too harsh, "plain" certainly isn’t. Comparing this to the Lion à Plume stout....
