UPDATED: APR 1, 2013 Tap at Moeder Lambic, Brussels. Pours dark, black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Has a dark roast aroma with some burnt sugar and definite citrus poking through. Nice flavor if slightly thin. Lightly sweet with some roast, light plastic, burnt cocoa, and some burnt citrus rind. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Burnt roast malt finish, with some wood, scorched earth, cocoa, mild citrus and grass. Pretty solid. (3.6)

Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London. Pours dark brown with a fine, tan cream head. Moderate roast in the nose, some burnt toast. Light sweet flavor with dry and toasty bread, hints of cocoa. Light in body with average carbonation. Somewhat dry to finish with more cocoa and earthy bitterness. Kind of bland this time around. (3.1)

Some fruity and citrus notes in aroma. Flavour has very roasted, almost burnt malts. Some coffee in the finish. Very full flavoured for only 4.5%.

Lite felsmaker i bakgrunden men annars trevlig.

33cl bottle at home. Very dark brown with a small off-white soapy head. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice bitterness with some sweet tones. Hops, dark chocolate, pine, brown sugar, caramel, coffee and herbs. A tad too watery, but still a very nice tasty brew.

AROMA : strong chocolate, toffee and coffee, med vanilla subtil nuts, roasty raisin from the malt part / floral, citric, lemongrass and subtil orange peel and pine from the hops part. some smokey leather and woody notes. APPEARANCE : Strong dark/black with subtil foam line. Not its strongest asset. TASTE : is well balaced, dry sweet with strong bitterness and little coffee/chocolate acidity. PALATE is a bit disapointing for the density, but goes with the style. medium body, thin and oily feel, soft carbonation, but long finish that makes room for more toffee, curaçao and spicy gingerbread. OVERALL : Great approach of the stout style. Big fan of Black IPA so... Served in Tulip glass from 33cl refrigerated bottle. Got better with the temperature rising.

Strong floral hop aroma. First in the mouth with powerful roasted malt. Light ABV but still tasteful. On the coffee side of the tongue.

I still find fascinating the fact that the aroma is different when tested from the bottle and from the glass. Here we have a mix of coffee and hops. To sum up, this is a light stout with hops. Great beer easely drinkable.

Goût très puissant de torréfaction, puis le houblon arrive. Bière légère qui se boit facilement. Ils osent mettre la couleur et l’alcool dans un même graphique sans abscisse défini. Ça fait mal à la tête

Very nice dark brown colour. Nice nose full of coffee but the taste is very weak, the level of alcohol is too low and the result is a quit unbalanced beer which is more appealing on paper than in reality... For a coffee brown beer, I would suggest a 3Ter by La Goutte d’Or brewery in Paris...

Drunk from 33cl bottle bought at Malting Pot, Brussels. Hoppy stout like beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
