Bottle @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels.
Pours slightly muddy yellow with a lovely, big, staying, frothy, white head. Great duration. Aroma has sweet malts, brett, light sugar, citrus and green apple. Medium carbonation, fine dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is fairly tart at first, some soapy hints, pepper, dryness, lots of funky brett. Malty sweet with a lingering, hoppy and bretty dryness. Very yummy, perhaps not worth its price, but still yummy.

Bottle shared at Spuyten Duyvil. Pale golden-straw colour. Aroma is really great. Big bright fruity nose. Quite a lot of tart sourness with a distinct Cantillon-esque funkiness. A bit of tartness and some strong leathery notes. A light lemony tartness as well with a touch of soft cologne and some funky bretty spiciness. The flavour is less intense than the aroma would suggest but it does have a pretty prominent tartness and a funky dry leathery character. There is a bit of grassiness with a touch of light bitterness. It smells a lot more sour than it tastes. There is a touch of sweetness even on the back, despite the strong tart character. Solid stuff really.

Flavor is subdued malt with spices and pepper, grassy hops, earth notes and a dry finish. Medium-light body, low warmth, high carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7305) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 31, 2010
Very good dense white head, lace; hazy yellow beer with a green shine. Again lambic Cantillon nose, wry, with unripe grapes, lunaria and other green fruit. Little spicy bitterness, helping to relieve the expected acidity. Root vegetables and health spices, with again such a bitter-vegetable aftertaste, not unlike artichokes. Quite some astringency, wry, medium bodied, bit spritzy. Very special, but the balance is not always ship-shape. And I have grave doubts about a Saison, containing real lambic - old-style Saisons had their own spontaneous infections.
