Lightly cloudy orange colored body, low carbonation gives a thin off-white head. Nose has a scent similar to some brett or some sour yogurt years, along with a large dose of grapefruit and peach. Good hefty spiced yeast. Light to moderate bubbly texture, and moderately thick body as well, almost chewy or vinuous. Spicy and fruity, not too sour, just a little bit, and overall the flavor profile centers on old manadarin oranges. Good stuff but not the ideal saison, but I pretty much compare every saison to Dupont. Most of the spicy orange flavor shows up in the finish, which is interesting and nice, but overall it’s just doesn’t hit the spot.

Unknown vintage although I’m pretty sure I bought this in early 2006 but who knows how long it was sitting on the shelf. The beer pours to a hazy sexy brass colored body with a lasting creamy light khaki/off-white head. Nice lacing. Great looking slow and tiny carbonation. The aroma has strong notes of red delicious apples, light lemons, basements, cork (which I suspect is the lichen), and something about it is simply appealing. Smells fresh even though I know it isn’t. The flavor is very earthy. Interesting spices and citric acid. Lemon. Light star fruit, red apples, and spice. Intriguing. The palate is lightly drying. Finishes clean with only a mild lingering spice. Moderate carbonation. A nice saison.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2007 1995. Pizza Port Belgian Beer Fest. Pour from a 750mL. Lightly musky sea freshness, with piquant acerbic spiciness. Different and mysterious. A rather murkied amber gold, with no head. Peculiar Thanksgiving potpourri over a lightly frayed sour off note. Weird and muddled. Sour and old. Not good in many senses. A lot of bad cork sourness over light sewage and raging oxidation. A brushed-rind cheese brings up the back. Nothing good has happened to this beer in 12 years.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2007 I bought my first one in Ontario at the LCBO. After a brewery tour in 2005 it is amazing that Jean Dit’s beer make it so far in the world. Although I much prefer Dupont’s saison’s this beer should be visited more than once. Page 397 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and 268 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2007 an amber coloured brew, with hoppy banana notes in nose, and sweet honey and sharp fruit , tart orange in flavour.

TK2 bottle at home ... This is not how i remembered it but it could easily be my memory that is wrong. Probably wouldnt score it as 4 this time but as i found bottle at back of cupboard im assuming its may not be at best ... Nice amber colour (4) ... apple woody smoke nose (7) ... fruity tart little lemon, sour apples ... spicy linger (7) ...palate (3) overall (15) giving if i count right 3.6

Filthy golden orange color. Plenty of yeast and spice flakes in glass. Aromas of barnyard funk, lemons, and mint leaves. Softly acidic, some white grape skins, citric peel, peppers and herbs. Seems to have a good amount of Brett character. An unusual Saison. I thought this had a Lambic quality to it without being too funky.

Medium amber color - a bit hazy. Aroma was slightly sweet, but with a hint of barnyard and some peppery spice. Flavor was rather thin and subdued - some tartness, with some ginger and pepper coming through. Finish was dry a a little watery. Disappointing, but the bottle was several years old - need to rerate with a fresher sample.

Huge musty aroma with some apples, and mint. Pours a dark orange with huge white head. At first i got some sour notes with some citrus, and some spices. The more i drank it the more mint i got, in the nose and the flavor. So very easy to drink!
