2000 Vintage. Very, very dark gold, almost copper, with a thick, rocky, white head that is constantly being built from below by the high carbonation level. Definite earthy, skunky, musty, corky aroma with some lemon in the background. Lots of caramel on the palate with sweetness, lots of carbonation, and some earthiness.

Bottle: Orangey coloured, thin but stable off-white layer, hazy; sourish-fruity nose (apples, rhubarb) with traces of a hidden Gueuze quality; sourish-fruity flavour, lively carbonation; apples and rhubarb again in the finish. Well done, refreshing and moreish !

(750ml bottle at café du pivnizub) Cloudy and hazy golden to amber coloured effervescent hue with loads of floaties and a small white creamy layer. Aroma of green apples with a touch of vanilla and rhubarb and notes of wet straw. Dry, slightly sour and fruity taste of green apples, woody, light to medium bodied, well-carbonated; slightly tart, sour and dry finish with peppery spice. Quite slim but easy drinkable and refreshing brew with the imagination of a Gueuze coming to my mind.

(19)95. Brewed in April. Bottled in September. Wow. I took some pretty good notes on this one. I must have really liked it. A fruity Saison: oranges, lemons, apricots. Slightly sour but in a good way. Oily palate that transcended into a spicy, dry and bitter finish. There’s a lot going on here and I’d be privileged to have the opportunity to try this again with a fresh palate.

Very clear pour, small head. Smells like a produce department, lots of vegitables. Drinks very very dry more like a dry wine then a beer. Sour apple and carrot taste. Tart aftertaste that grows quite a bit. Definately not like any beer I have ever had, more like a wine. Very odd.

33cl bottle from Utobeer, Borough Market. I was expecting more from this, but by the end of the glass I was a little disappointed. Reddish brown cloudy colour with thin white head. Orange peel and some ginger on aroma. Bit of mustiness too. Even some red berry fruit. Sour in mouth with a bit of musty funk. A bit wacky actually. Sourness carries through to the end. A bit of rubber somewhere. Not a big fan.

Bottled. Clear reddish amber with small head. Vinous aroma with plenty of red grapes. Fresh and light bodied with some citric acidity. Lightly spicy but cellary notes takes over towards the finish. Bears vague signs of defective cork - I must try to locate this beer again...

Brewed July 1995, bottled October 1995. As I removed the cork there was nothing. No sign of carbonation at all. I poured it violently, and got a head that resembled dishwater. After that quickly settled there was a thin light layer over the beer. The beer is clear orange. Aroma is pepper, spices, and apples. Perhaps some other fruits. Almost felt past its prime, and the flavor made that more obvious as it had some stale characteristics. This began as a near drainpour but slowly improved to drinkable. Flat but fairly complex. The flavor started around a 3/10, and ended near a 7 so I chose 6. I think almost 11 years is too long, it would be interesting to try a fresher bottle. Still, I can’t see myself coming back. On a final note, this felt a LOT more alcoholic than 6% after I finished.
