3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PJClarke (1407) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 16, 2009
Very lively once the cork flew out. A very hazy straw like gold. Mounds of off white foam and one or two floaters. Not all too appetizing at first glance.
Sweet, fresh gooseberry with hints of banana from the yeast. Quite late summery. A harvest beer?
A little tart at first then mellowing into wholesome sweet bread. It’s a nice journey encompassing tight sour flavours and floury textures. Quite thin but it keeps it refreshing. A little cereally in the finish.
Pretty tasty saison. Though having any more than one may lead to a bit of a stomach ache. Thumbs up.

750ml - Aroma is nice barnyard, straw, bready yeast and subtle hops. Pours transparent yellow with tons of bubbles and a huge white fluffy head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is tart and refreshing. This is how a saison should be.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 The Etruscan (385) - Tuscany, ITALY - DEC 22, 2008
White large foamy full lasting head. Cloudy golden colour. Aroma is malty, fruity (apples) with orange peel , yeast, walnut and slightly herbal notes. Flavor is moderately malty with citrus and fruity tones, ending in a moderately hoppy finish. Light to medium bodied. Excessively carbonated.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jbrus (4989) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - NOV 30, 2008
Bottle@Home. Lemon, hay, straw and banana aroma. Hazy, shiny yellow, off-white large head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, wheat, light grassy. Sticky mouthfeel. Not much complexity, straightforward but very good session beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4287) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 18, 2008
Bottle (375ml) shared with garthicus, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a murky yellow-gold with tons of little floaties and a spare diminishing creamy white head. Nice aroma of lightly sour fruit along with slightly funky yeast and spices. Flavour’s yeasty and citrusy along with some spices and light hops -- it’s refreshing and easy to drink. Average bodied. Pretty good stuff.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jerc (5446) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 26, 2008
2008-10-22. Hazy pastel yellow body with a modest fizzy white head. (3+) Lightly funky aroma, tart wheaty grass and funk. Tart not quite sour, light funk, lemon, grapefruit seeds in the finish. Average palate is fairly effervescent. Rather nice, refreshing. Bottle from Bier Tempel, Bruges
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BartC (513) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - OCT 21, 2008
75cl bottle from Alvinnes Proefzolder. Yellow-gold beer with a small white head. Not much aromas noticeble. Very fresh taste: citrus, wheat, very dry end. More a good wheat beer in stead of Saison if you ask me
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 CharlesDarwin (2570) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - OCT 11, 2008
750mL Bottle. Noses in strong fresh fall apple skin, flesh and juice. Bright and acidic. So apple, so fresh, so bright. Pours a heavily clouded deep orange, with a nice fresh white head. Flavor is calmer, but still a distinct, wonderful fresh apple palate. Crisp, sharp and juicy. Some older hops slide in fast for a bit of discordance. Palate is airy, tart and slightly acidic. Balanced, fresh and beautiful. What a wonderful beer, sans the dirty, dusty cellar musty old celery seed hop scourge. The front end of this beer is stellar.
