4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 ohemming (27) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 15, 2007
I really enjoyed this beer, definately keep your thumb over the cork as you untwist the wire cage. On the light end of the saison spectrum in color and flavor, but it didn’t lack complexity. Really hit the spot, very enjoyable beer.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rictus (126) - Camdenton, Missouri, USA - JUN 6, 2007
I can smell little more than the funk. Light in color big head that sticks around for about 3 minutes than dissipates quickly. Hyperactive bubbles. Tarter than other saisons I tried. Slight skunk. Slight bitterness. Sticky, tingly mouth feel. Carbonation feels more soda like than I am used to. It also kinda dries out my mouth. Overall it’s good. Not my favorite saison but good.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MullMan (1099) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 30, 2007
as soon as I unraveled the wire cage and removed from the bottle, the cork shot off like a mofo and pinged the cieling tiles! this beast wanted out but I covered the bottle with my hand after the shock of the cork. the body was gloudy and golden yellow, with a thickish foamy mostly white head. aroma is yeasty, wheaty malt, and spicy, but smelled metallic from a distance. straw and grassy too. flavor is dryish pale malt, yeasty and wheaty. faintly tart and fruity like apricot. sourdough bready finish.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bb (4577) - Alamo, California, USA - MAY 28, 2007
Bottle. 2005 Vintage. Hazy amber beer with an off-white head. Dusty, earthy, yeasty aroma. Spicy, yeasty, slight what flavor. Dry finish. Medium body. Lingering yeast, hay, and spice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 downender (4186) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2007
Bottle from Hopduvel, Gent. Poured a cloudy pale orange with a rocky, white head. Aromas of yeast, pears and herbs. Flavours of citrus, spice and the farmyard with a dry, earthy finish. An interesting Saison.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 sunevdj (2306) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - MAY 7, 2007
Brux07. Pours a hazy yellow with a large, frothy, light head and some nice lacings. Moderate to heavy sweetness with a light bitterness. More sourness as it ages in the glass. Light malt aromas with some hay. Light perfumed and grassy hops notes. Quite earthy.
Also light appley and coriander hints. Medium to full bodied with a lively carbonation that kinda explodes in the mouth.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 LadySusan (601) - Ste-Therese, Quebec, CANADA - APR 24, 2007
Yhe color is gold with a short lasting beige head. The aroma and taste is of hops and coriander. Even if spicies are in the taste there are very light. A bit to watery for me.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JoeinEscazú (1120) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - APR 3, 2007
Lovely pale gold wearing a big hat of mousse. Big farmy aroma of barnyard, horseblanket, straw, wheat. Light and lively mouthfeel, very dry, with bready, lemony flavor. Dry and hoppy finish. If spelt makes a beer this fine, maybe more brewers should play with it.
