wyzzywyz22 (387), Wirral, Merseyside, England Apr 27, 2008 Bottle, Beers of Europe. Bottle. Pours a thin gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is yeast, citrus and spices. Flavour is sweet, with some citrus and shades of acidicness. Some dryness in the finish. Refreshingly drinkable enough but no gold stars.
Muggus69 (257), Sydney, Australia Oct 11, 2008 Corked 750ml bottle. BB 10.2009. Pours a textbook hazy orangey-straw body with creamy medium sized head white head leaving clumps all the way down.
Lemon sourness on the nose, plenty of clove, pepper and lifted spiciness, some banana, grainy malt, grassy hops and an underlying lactic cheese element that pops up.
Body is lean, gives the impression of attenuation, quite a lively creamy carbonation bring with it a bit of acid bite and good length.
Cereal and lemon I get straightup on the body, bit of grapefruit too, banana and clove and nutmeg, pepper towards the finish, get a bit coriander as it warms too. Finish is dry, some acidic tartness, hop bitterness and grassiness, not to mention that underlying funky cheese mould character.
Very complex and refreshing! Not a style i’m very familiar with (yet), but i’d best describe it somewhere between a hefewiezen and Belgian wit, with a bit of gueuze funk thrown in there. TrefwoordPunk (371), Leiden, Netherlands Oct 10, 2008 Bottle 75 cl. shared with friends. Pours a little bit cloudy golden with a big white head and a fresh fruity and spicey aroma with a note of fresh hops. The flavor is spicey and a tad bitter, really complex with a mild sweet undertone. A long bitter spicey finish to end it off. Great beer cab (760), Denmark Oct 3, 2008 Bottle.75cl. Very nice spicy aroma, with some yeast notes, huge head running over the top, hazy fluid, golden and hay like color. very nice taste it almost got all of the palate, sweet and yet dry, some candy in the aftertaste. highlandlad (1200), Sydney, Australia Sep 13, 2008 Today is the first warm Spring day in Sydney and I couldn’t have picked a better beer for the occasion. This is an easy-drinking, lemony saison. It’s not as remarkable as Dupont’s Vieille Provision but it’s still a flavoursome, summery thirst-quencher. It poured an unfiltered lemon curd with a generous one-inch head. Terrific retention. The zesty aroma has lemon rind, yeast, haybale and a hint of blue cheese. Medium bodied and quite full in the mouth. Tart flavour mix of lemon barley water, washed rind and clove. Dry, spicy finish. Quite bitter for the style. Demands to be drunk in the sun. Quality stuff. (750ml bottle from IBS, Perth. BB Oct 2008) Boutip (1815), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Sep 2, 2008 Bottle courtesy of mgermani: Poured a cloudy beige color head with a huge foamy head with great retention and some good lacing. Aroma of funky yeast is well balance with the floral malt base and the dry European hops. Taste is also a very well balance mix between some spicy and dry European hops (Saaz?), some floral and lightly sweet Belgian malt and a controlled funky yeast strain. Full body with great carbonation makes this an easily drinking beer with loads of character. This should be my every day beer but unfortunately I don’t have access to it on a regular basis.
