24/04/2011 1.5L (magnum) bottle from Geers @ home - BB: 01/2014 (2011-164)
Cloudy orange beer, white creamy head, bit stable and adhesive. Aroma: marijuana upon opening and pouring, very much like the Avec Les Bons Voeux. Then citrus aromas, grapefruits, yeast note, little malty. MF: good carbon, light to medium body. Taste: fruity and a lot of hops, very citrussy, malts, honey, spices. Aftertaste: dry bitter, citrus, bit peppery. Very nice brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
draft @ Moeder Lambic.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
75 cl bottle from Delhaize. Pours hazy orange with a big white head. Apart from the typical Saison Dupont aroma’s also some citrus is shining through. Very well balanced and good soft bitterness in the aftertaste. Very well crafted and refreshing brew.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft sample from Moeder Lambic Fontainas (in May of 2010). Like Glouglouburp, I didn’t think it was ratable. Lucky for me, I still have my old notes. Hazy pale gold in colour with strong carbonation. The dry hops hit immediately on the nose, with elements of hay, green grasses, black pepper, and herbs. There’s a bit more balance in the mouth with dry pale malts mixing well with elements of thistle, marshmallow, juicy fruit gum, and herbal hops. Very dry and very refreshing. A slightly different animal than the Vielle Provision, and a notch better in my estimation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at beerfestival Olen "Het genootschap van de Pot". Hazy blond beer with a white creamy head. The typical aroma of the saison were suppressed by citrus and grapefruit flavors. The taste was strong bitter, citrus and grapefruit again. Very dry. Very long bitter aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Just like the name says, an extremely hoppy beer. Might just be a little too hoppy to be enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big bottle from the Carrefour. Nice light yellow body with top head. Nose of grains with notes of lemon. Taste is very hoppy up front and then warms. Quite a nice beer. Well bottled. Better than the more exclusive brew from last year, in my opinion.
Earlier Rating: 7/1/2010 Total Score: 2.9
On tap at Nuetnigenough. Orange body with top head. Nice nose. A bit grainy. Taste if malty, spicy. Not as hoppy as I would have expected.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A rustic bready Saison with an enormous quantity of floral hops juice. Excellent but I prefer the regular version.
How: On tap at Moeder Lambic Saint-Gilles, Brussels. Consumed very fresh just after the beer release, summer 2010. I would have been one of the first (if not THE first) person to rate this beer but I didn’t think it was ratable. So I kept my rating as a souvenir to keep company to my unratable rating of De Dolle Oerbier Verjaardagsbier. But now it seems that Saison Dupont Dry-hopping is a valid entry so I am taking the tick!
The look: Cloudy dark golden-blonde body topped by a large beige head with good retention
In long: First I should start by saying that the Saison Dupont Vieille Provision is a personal favorite of mine. When one day I decide to rate it, I may give it a 4.8 or 4.9. Also I should add that I add this beer uber-fresh even before it was bottled. Dry-hopping level was through the roof but has probably mellowed out in the bottles in circulation. Now on to the beer. Nose is very floral, grassy and a bit fruity. Radically different from the regular Vieille Provision nose. I thought the taste was dominated by the dry hopping. The sharpness of the regular Dupont Vielle Provision is all gone and even the classic Dupont yeast signature was hard to spot. Lots and lots of floral hops juice, grass juice, some apples, bready yeast/malts, some rustic yeast notes, some citrus fruits (apricots and white grapefruits mainly). Mouthfeel was spot-on and very lively as expected from a Dupont beer. In a way this is more easy to drink than a regular Vieille Provision because it is less sharp but it is also less refreshing and overall a lot less classy than the regular Vieille Provision. This beer proposes a very different experience from the regular version even if is supposedly the very same beer except for the dry-hopping. But sometimes a little difference can result in a big change. For instance “Fucking A! dude” and “Fucking a dude!”.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle. Hazy golden yellow body with a fizzy white head that turns rocky and laces pretty well. Aroma is somewhere between sweet and sour, hints of earth, honey, citrus and green apple. The taste starts sweet, earth and has a bitter ending. Long lasting bitter aftertaste that makes you want to take the next zip.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
One of the first saisons I’ve tried. First on tap then on a 75cl bottle, I didn’t notice great differences. Nice and fruity to smell, it is not too much hoppy but I wasn’t going to drink an IPA. Good.
