Rated on 20110802.
Hazy yellow colour with a large foamy head. Aroma is citrus, yeast, grass and some spices. Flavor is citrus, spices and yeast. High carbonation but a bit too stuffy palate for this type of a beer. Not as good as I had hoped.

1500 ml bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere.
Pours hazy yellow colour with a white head. Aroma of strong mango and orange with some aromatic hops. Flavour of floral hops, sweet fruits such as orange, yeast, citrus and some clove. Unfortunately some unpleasant vegetables as well. Smooth bodied with a finish of yeast, sweet fruits and mild spices. Somewhat unbalanced, lacks ABV and actually a bit weird. Not refreshing either. Original version is better.

150 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, BBE 01/2011 (or at least the label said so)
Rather light and a bit stalish aroma with lot of yeast and some vegetables and hints of spices and fruits. Flavour has yeast, some vegetables and a bit harsh hops. A bit disappointment from Dupont, less refreshing and worse than the original.

2011 magnum. Cloudy gold with a large white head. Aroma of lemon pudding, pears, nectarines, some earthy yeast, meadows. Taste has light fruity sweetness, slight funky sourness, very dry finish with spicy bitterness. Fruity with lemons, oranges (moreso towards the bottom of the bottle), melons, stone fruit. Creamy and highly carbonated mouthfeel. Misses out on some of the yeastiness of the normal one and the aroma is crowded, but the almost Orvalish dry spicy bitter finish is a reasonable swap. Hits that sophisticated but still rather rustic mark that Dupont does pretty well.

Draught at Akkurat. Unfiltered. Cloudy, yellow liquid with white head. Aroma is much hoppier and less funky than the normal Saison Dupont with notes of floral, noble hops, grass, some light malt/bread and of course a bit spicy yeasty action. Taste is dry, medium bitter and overall very clean and fruity. Not as yeast dominated as the original. Light to medium bodied with nice, high carbonation and dry mouthfeel. Overall, much better than I thought it would be and a great thirst quencher in the summer. Really nice flavour and aroma.

2011 version, draught. Lovely cloudy gold. Huge fragrant hop nose, citrus, grass, something like melon, and light, bready malt. Light, clean flavor with big grass, dry fruitiness and some citrus. Very dry, and very bitter. Clean as hell. Not quite as complex as the regular saison in the bottle, but great. Bitter and dry as a bone.

Magnum at Victor’s bracket box tasting at Paul’s. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a large white head. Musky and fuzzy, soft yeast and a touch of dusty hops. Sweet and clean, very smooth and easy. Musk on the finish.
