3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 750ml. Thx Tommy.
Pours golden with medium frothy white head. Some lacing. Aroma is of citrus, yeast, malt, fruits, flowers. Taste is of citrus, malt, slight bitterness. Palate: Light-medium body. Overall: Good. Would need to drink again fresher. Wasn’t able to grasp much of hops action.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (750 ml). Hazy orange/golden with a frothy slowly diminishing white head and good lacing. Aroma is of Saison yeast (the Dupont one is recognizable), citrus, light spices & peppery notes, malt and floral notes. Taste is slightly sweet with yeast, spices, peppery notes, floral notes, citrus and mango. Medium body. Moderate/good carbonation. Dry finish. Very good Saison. Not very different from the non dry hopped version, but maybe that’s because the bottle is probably a couple months old. Super drinkable and refreshing. Another good Dupont product.

750 c&c from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent/dirty gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. Aroma is citrus, and fruit ester and something earthy/mildly spicy. Very pure in a way. WETMs. Full bodied til the carb leaves. Then a confusing mix of flavors which end in a phenolic earthy taste, with some mild fruit esters trailing along. To some extent it is like unwashed vegetables - but what kind I’m not sure. It is becoming astringent. Half way to tart, maybe. No. It finishes very earthy and fruity, but earth is very dominant. The long finish coats the mouth with earthiness and hints of barnyard. This is really, perhaps not surprisingly, good ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at the World Craft Beer Tasting 2013 in Osaka. Big fruity, tangerine aroma. Very pretty deep yellow color with a fully white head. Strong lemony flavors, with a back end of hop touches, and a sourish edge. Quite dry. Not sure what the dry hopping adds. Very good, though the regular Saison Dupont is better,

Draft at Fa!rBar. Hazy yellow body and a small diminishing head. Aroma of hops: citrus, pine, abricot. The taste is medium sweet and heavy bitter, nice bitter finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at APEX. Pours a copper color with a medium white head. A big sweet yeasty fruity Belgian ale nose. The flavor is oranges, sulfur, some caramel, toffee, biscuit, really balanced. Super tasty fluffy Belgian brew. Crisp mellow fruity hops. Certainly low to no bitterness. I see why people really dig this.

750ml bottle into a Duvel tulip.
A: Pours a hazy golden color. The haziness is quite beautiful, in my opinion. A uniform two finger head of a white shade forms with a frothy texture. Retention is good, though the head doesn’t leave much (if any) lacing on the glass.
S: There’s a really epic fruitiness on the aroma, filled with both citrus, stone fruits, and even some cherries. I also enjoy the grassy, sulfury hop profile here; but I think it kind of conceals all the fruits somewhat. Still, the nose is very solid - I blame a case of the allergies here.
T: I can definitely taste the hops here. They finish the brew with an herbal tone, to go with the fruit esters clustered on the front end. In addition, there’s also a notable mintyness to close the flavor profile out; similar to the mint I pick up in DFH’s 90 Minute. Complexity is muted but noticeable with concentration - I like that the focus here is on subtle suggestions of flavor rather than heavy-handed punches in the face. The same minor complaint I had on the aroma fits here, as well: while the hops are very well balanced within the fruit esters and the malt backbone, I also think they conceal the fruitiness a bit more than I’d like. Very, very good otherwise.
M: It finishes fairly clean and bone dry, without being harshly astringent. Combined with the lively fizz, it makes this one really easy to drink, not to mention refreshing. I could do with a bit less yeastiness, but that’s nitpicking from yours truly more than an actual flaw.
O: I’m beginning to question whether or not I really like saisons that much - objectively, though, this is excellent, even fantastic. The hop profile is balanced beautifully within the all of the other notes. Subjectively, the yeast tends to bother me after about 1/2 the bottle is finished. Eh, who cares. A must try for anyone who enjoys the style.

Pours a beautiful golden orange beer with a good white head. Smells fruity, orange and hops. Tastes orange, fresh with a good bitter finish. Very little sour. Average carbo, dry texture and a thin body.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Had on tap in a pint glass.
Arrived with a half finger white head over a slighly hazy, straw-colored body.
Aroma of pears, coriander, bread, and biscuit. The aroma was very typical of regular Dupont and while nothing really stood out as spectacular, it is extremely solid and a great example of the style.
The flavor contains more pear and yeast esters along with bread and a touch of toast. Some coriander along with grass and hay. I do notice more hops in this version which is a nice differenct from what one would find in a standard Saison. Helps to liven it up a little. Very dry mouthfeel and finish which is wonderful.
Overall, a very nice beer and one I am very happy I was able to try.
