Shared 2013 750ml. bottle poured to snifters, showing a cloudy, orange tint, with soft, white foam that reduced quickly to a ring & film, and left some spotty lacing on the glass. The nose was perfumy esters, with a light, earthy, yeasty funk that was complementary rather than a detraction. Light to medium bodied, the flavor was dry and pleasantly tart, with soft carbonation and a soft, creamy mouthfeel to enhance the experience. Very nice!

Bottle (2013/Triskel edition, 750mL, BROWN BOTTLE!!!). Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, Meyer lemon, unripe nectarine), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of lemon rind, spearmint gum, pepper, hint of sulfur. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. BROWN 750mL BOTTLES AT LAST!!! I bought six of these without even trying it first, almost entirely due to that alone...and yep, no skunk odor whatsoever, unsurprisingly. Fingers crossed that the 2013 regular Dupont saison will be packaged in the same bottles (as well as the rest of their products, which are almost all fairly hoppy and suffer in the green bottles). And I’m also pleased to find that this version delivers the goods, even if it doesn’t really beat the standard edition. The fruity hops are a bit odd on top of the traditional Dupont odors (I would prefer them to just hop the shit out of it with Styrians, if anything), but they’re certainly quite pleasant. Zero resinous character, thankfully. Near-perfect balance, as with the regular saison. Saison Dupont itself is ubiquitous and more modestly priced than most American attempts at the style (!), but it’s still a consistent 4+ world-beater. A delicious gem of a beer.

2013. 750ml BROWN bottle corked and caged served in a Tank 7 tulip. Poured a hazy light gold with two fingers of tight bubbled head. Yeast aroma to start, not in a Belgian spicy way. Hops came through in the aroma later. Light bodied, dry and crisp with a bit of a hop bite. Some citrus. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a big white head. Nose is yeast, wheat and resinous, citrusy hops. Taste is similar but citrus becomes more prominent. Good dry palate but not too dry. This is really nice. The hops add quite a bit to the base beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Thin white head, hazy bright lemon gold hue. Lots of citrusy aromas, slight citric sourness, and some slight banana in the aroma. Flavor isn’t as citric, and not overly hoppy or anything, and some slight pear notes but finishes dry with some hay. Lighter chalky body with nice carbonation.
