Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

For export relabeled as "Vieille Provision".

UPDATED: APR 22, 2010 Bottle, 33 cl. Cloudy golden/orange with a large fluffy head. Fruity malt aroma with notes of honey, oranges and lemon, along with spicy and yeasty notes. Medium bodied, good carbonation. A nicely balanced brew, with a initial sweetness and a moderate but distinct bitterness, accompanied by a faint acidity. Very good, an "Orval light".

Bottle: Its been a long time since i had this and i didnt have the palate i have now. Pours a cloudy yellow with a thick frothy white head. Awesome aroma of hops, citrus and spice and belgian yeast and just a tiny bit of fruit. Very complex aroma. Flavor is even better. Crisp and yet creamy and medium to thick bodied with fruity sweet malts and a ton of citrus character and belgian spicy yeast flavors with hints of clove and lemon and a great little hop bite. Very refreshing.

Dry aroma but with a fruit sweetness (apples, pairs, tangerines). Powerful, hoppy smell. Fresh-mown grass/hay scent. Very powerful and unique aroma, like that of a Czech pilsner on steroids.
Pours an effervescent, cloudy, deep gold/bronze with an orange hue. Large amount of suspended particulate that settles quickly to the bottom of the glass. Huge, thick, uneven white head with large bubbles and a thin brown yeast film on top.
Dry, champagne-like taste. Hoppily bitter. Vaguely reminiscent of a Pacific Northwest IPA with its fruit flavors, which are consistent with those found in the aroma. Light hint of smoked ham. Alcohol noticeable but not strong. Still, I’m surprised that I taste the alcohol at all given that the beer is merely a relatively moderate 6.5% abv.
Long-lasting, hoppy, dry aftertaste. Medium body. Frothy and quite lively in the palate. Surprisingly easy to drink.
Believe it or not, this is my first saison. It definitely is different from other beers, but it is not so distinctive as to be astounding. This beer remains unmistakably Belgian. Poured from a 12.7 oz. bottle with a cork marked as "2006." I enjoyed it very much, but that may be because I found it to be a pleasant change of pace. That is, now that I am familiar with the saison style, I’m not sure that I would rate an equally good saison as highly in the future. Nonetheless, I certainly am glad that I gave Saison Dupont Vieille Provision a try.

Bottled. An amber beer with a lot of sediment floating around under a huge white head. The aroma is sweet with subtle spicy notes of coriander and orange peel, as well as a dusty hoppy note. The flavor is sweet, yet at the same time very dry spicy with an acidic note of lemon. The spices include coriander, cloves, and cinnamon. And it all leads to a dry spicy and slightly bitter end, which also has the faintest of alcohol burns in the throat. Refreshing.

This one seems very balanced despite an earthy herby layer with some bitter citrus tones but that layer aligns itself with that signature Belgian yeasty citrus spicy flavor which always keeps me coming back for more. There seems to be an aftertaste of cloves kicking as I swallow this beer. The aroma has a sense of bananas and spices but IMHO doesn’t do the taste much justice. I love the carb. factor, cloudiness and sediment. It was a pleasure to have this and Foret this weekend!

Bouteille 2006. Corps plein, effervescence parfaite. Excellente saison.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour with huge fluffy/creamy head. Lots of lace. Aroma is spices, yeast, some fruit and earth. Flavour is earth, a bit meaty, spices, zest and lots of yeast. An excellently balanced whole with a very filling palate.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2011 yeasty, spicy, dusty, fruity aroma. flavor is of meat, bread, earth, pears and citrus. so dry and delicious. pairs really well with grilled pork and smelly cheeses... 8/4/8/3/16/3.9

sampled fresh on tap... me don’t likey. clear golden/yellowy color with a rocky flufffy off white head. it lacks richness and depth. it does still maintain the spiciness and herbal twang. lots of lemon and dry parching hoppiness make it a pleasant drinker in the desert heat...7/3/7/3/16/3.7

2008 bottle housed november 2009... i crave the skunk on this stuff... i search and search for better examples but find myself always coming back to this... grainy, hoppy, dry and quenching. 8/4/9/5/18/4.4

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass, cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma was pronounced yeast, banana, citrus fruit and spice. The taste was quite dry and sour with notes of citrus fruit and yeast. Nice carbonation. Goes great with food.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a delicate white head. Mild aroma with hints of peach and spices. Wonderful mouthful. Highly carbonated with a dry sharp finish. Complex malt, fruit and spice flavors in a very drinkable beer.
