COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

For export relabeled as "Vieille Provision".

Bottle 750 ml. Tulip Glass. Hazy yellow-orange with an excellent dense head which leaves some lacings. Nice fruity aroma with evident malt and hops. Taste is floral hops balanced with malts and plenty of spicy/pepperiness and yeast. Dry finish. Very drinkable with less alcohol than beers that usually display such character.

Big bottle. Pours with a lot of head. Yeast floats around a lot and takes a while to settle. Gave it the chance to warm up since i had it a little too cold in the fridge. Good beer seems a little more like a hefe than anything else. Good brew

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Nose was big, wild, and funky. Grassy. Pour was just kind of annoying: too much head and not enough visible character to match the intense aromas. The flavor was all over the place. Alot of lemon and grass. I could see this being great as something you just chug down on a hot day, but beyond that it is unimpressive. Perhaps the style is not for me, but this needs more balance and cohesiveness. RE-RATE, after several 750ml bottles. My original rating came from a time when I didn’t really "get" saisons, not that I necessarily do now, but at least I’ll give it half a chance. It’s soft and floral on top of the grassy, lemony qualities, which is really nice and worthy of raising the score a few points.

Bottle conditioned, not pasteurized, I found this at the local Beverages and More and had to give it a try.

Citrus smell, bottle-conditioned yeast floats beautifully through a hazy, yet still clear body. Pours with a thick head and light, crisp consistency.

Quite good for a Saison, slight sour aftertaste, it is easy to drink with an almost oaky finish. Well above average!

UPDATED: APR 6, 2007 Quite a fine beer. Nice citrusy nose and a nice head on it. Bitterness begins, but then it quickly evens out to a nice full and earthy yeasty palate. The citrus doesn’t come through on the palate as much as would be expected, but, no matter, there are a whole symphony of other subtleties that do appear, with a particular emphasis on the sourness that becomes fairly dominant. A fine brew, and one that I’ve enjoyed with many a meal.

I’ve had this beer before, and I think this is the first saison I ever had. And I think it is a classic that really has defined this style. Since Michael Jackson called saison an "endangered style" a decade ago, it has experienced a revival, but it seems like Saison DuPont has been representing this style the whole time. Appearance is a hazy yellow with very abundant head (like a Duvel). Aroma is of spice (clove?) and is delicious. Taste is extremely smooth and relatively uncomplicated. It is clovey and also very good. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. This beer is extremely drinkable. This beer is an uncomplicated classic responsible for (pardon the metaphor) saving its "endangered" species. This beer is much lighter than its American imitators (from the likes of Ommegang and Avery), but is truly excellent.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2012 Poured gold like a pilsner with a few floaties, a very white head, lots of bubbly lacing, fragrances of pilsner malt, lightly fruity, some sour scent that is mixed in sweet, small woodsy fragrance, reminds me of other Belgian beers that use pilsner or light malt, has a little barn hay on the floor smell, old or cellar fragrance, citrus in the mouth, very light malt taste, dry on the palate, pouring in the sediment gives it a light bread taste, I see this as a great Summer brew to cool off and relieving your thirst.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale golden color with a longlasting white head. Malty fruity aroma with hints of yeast and citrus. Also some spicy hints. Has a slightly fruity malty flavor with some grainy and grassy hints. Even some citrus hints. Dry and slightly tasrt bitter finish.
