COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

Bottle. Hazy medium yellow with a medium and lasting white head. Nose is yeast notes, citrus, herbal/spicy notes, fruit. Flavor is malt, spice, hops, lime peel, sweetness, some acidity. Hops in the dry and bitter finish. A very nicely balanced saison.

The pour yields a medium golden body that starts out mostly clear, but becomes increasingly cloudy with each pour. A foamy, huge, head holds strong, fading very slowly. On the nose, grassy herbs come across slightly funky belgian yeast and pale, bready malts. The actual taste differs a lot from the aromas. It evokes a much warmer feeling on the palate, than the aromas revealed, due to soft yeast, straw, peppery hints, tart lemon, pear and spices. Has an incredibly smooth mouthfeel, which is just outraging soft on the palate, with added complexity from the slightly biting, savory spices among peppery notes and lively, metallic carbonation. Pleasant, floral hops act as an enjoyable counterpart, with the addition of earthy malts, to the sweeter spices. The palate is simply perfect, substantial and round up front, finishing very dry and lightly fizzy. Outstanding well balances beer, which is close to perfection in taste with a particular complex body.

Pours a hazed gold with a slightly off-white head sustained by vigorous carbonation. Tons of sediment visible but I left most of that in the bottle. Lemon zest, belgian yeast esters (banana et al), slight alcohol and slight woodsy funk on the nose make for a classic saison aroma. Flavor is delicious and complex, the funk increases and the malt adds a bready base. Lemon and banana continue. Soft and grainy mouthfeel is pleasant and refreshing. Easily obtainable and world-class saison.

Served on-tap at Shady McGrady’s into a snifter.

A - Pours cloudy straw yellow with a nice pillow of half finger tall head leaving little wisps of lacing down the glass.

S - I don’t think the smokey bar helped this one much. I could barely make it out but I got some light Belgian yeast, ripe fruit, earthy funk and a solid herbal backbone.

T - Plenty of Belgian yeast and earthy funk mix well with some nice light fruitiness and a tiny bit of light malt. Not as spicy as I thought it would be but it is still in there. Finish has lots of lingering bready yeast. Still one of my all time favorite beers.

M - Medium-light body and flavor with moderate carbonation. A pleasant mix of chewy and dry in the feel. Finish is very chewy with most of it lingering for some time after consumption.

D - Pretty high. One of the all time best, I could drink a few of these on a warm summer day no problem. It is light yet still complex and very tasty.

Pours hazy gold w/ huge persistent white, foamy head. Lemons, bread, fruity esters on the nose. The palate is fruity w/ faint banana and clove. The finish is extremely dry and long. Overall, a very dry expression of the Saison style.

Hazy and golden, nice head. Fruity, funky, bubble gum, spicy, and citrus aromas come out. A little light struck aroma too. Some lightly sweet bread. Flavor follows the aromas. Amazingly complex. High carbonation and very refreshing. Nice pilsner malt flavor balanced with spicy hops and lots of yeast character. Delicious.

Bottle at the Bergweg. I have had this several times and enjoy it a lot. It is a golden yellow colour with a diminishing white head. The aroma has a lot of citrus, possibly some citrus fruits that are unknown to man. The flavour is smooth, malty, citrusy again, and then a very distinct bitterness. It’s balanced, it has stood the test of time. It’s on the offense. It’s good.
