Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

Lovely aroma from freshly opened 75cl bottle drank over dinner. pours a pale cloudy colour not unlike a gueuze, but ith a much softer flavour, a delicate well balanced beer, very classy.

Pour a clear gold with a finger of white head. Nose of Belgian yeast and hay malts. Tastes of a little bitterness, hay malts. Whatís going on here? Is it just me or is this beer not as great as the rating? You Belgians, what the word on this beer in Belgium?

Draft. Pours opaque gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like light herb, cracker malt, and creamy lemon. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like light yeast, light citrus, and light malt.

Sour aroma, body is full of residual pigments. Taste is yeast, basically. Hints of farm house. Doesn't quite do it for me...

Keg. Pours clear and golden, a white half-finger head, plenty of carbonation. Spicy fruity aromas, with a hint of zest. A bit fizzy in the mouth, slightly sour, some sweet fruits also, malts come through at the end. Nice.

Had this many times while in Belgium but somehow missed rating/reviewing it. I purposely had a sample at the 2014 Brugge beer festival to write about: these are the notes reformulated. Slight haze to the golden yellow pour, huge white foaming crown on top. A yeasty earthiness to both the aroma and taste, sour fruits and spice notes throughout the tasting (as usual): this is a joy to drink, so full of different flavours and character. A true classic.

Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow pour. A great standard saison - nice complex fruity aroma, flavourful yet easy drinking.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2014 Bottle from WFM in Redwood City, CA. Pours a hazy straw with a big foamy head. Aroma is cereal grains, tinny, a bit of corn. Taste is sweet grains followed by some slightly bitter herbs that linger. The Budweiser of Saisons? Thatís the initial impression Iím left with. As the bottle/glass warms, this beer really opens up and has much deeper, fruitier nuances. Will revisit this one as I try more Saisons.
