3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance is light golden and cloudy with a creamy white foam cap. Aroma is funky earthy, herbal, and barnyard like. Taste starts with a sweet malt that gives way to a slightly spicy character with a bit of tartness on the end. Also pick up some fruity notes of apricot and pear. Mouthfeel is light to moderate with a little creaminess. Finish is a really well balanced with a slight bit of tartness but not overpowering. Great saison.

Bottle in hopaholic. Hazy yellow colour, almost no head. Nose is grain. Really strong grain like a muesli bar. Taste is also grainy, low sourness. Refreshing. Crisp. Good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Visual: Corked with a twisty top. Pours golden yellow-orange with a very largy foamy head, 1cm long lasting retention, clusters of micro slow streams.
Nose: honey-floral-citrus sweet malt, yeasty and wheaty. (lvl-6)-intensity
Attack: super crisp
Mid-palate: airy-bloated CO2, (lvl-3-sweetness), grainy sweet lager barley malt, honey, light chamomile, lemony
Finish: banana wheat malt exhale, dry bittersweet hops
Summary: Easy and clean from start to finish. Solid without being excruciatingly complex.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served in a snifter from a 330ml bottle. Pours hazy golden colour with a big white head, leaving lots of lacing in the glass. Aroma is orange peel, grass, yeast and grain. Taste is bitter orange, grapefruit, slight yeast and malts, finishing off with a pleasant lingering soft bitterness. Medium body with medium to high carbonation. A bit strong to be consumed as a session but very nice and tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ámbar, turbia y espuma jabonosa de buena retención. Aroma floral, algo de cítricos, ésteres característicos de levadura belga. En boca muy buena carbonatación, punto equilibrado entre acidez y amargor. Bien atenuada. Seca. Refrescante.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Hazy yellow, big massive white head, dissipates slowly leaving lots of lacings. Stellar looks. Aroma is citrus, hay, bread, cereal and floral notes. Taste is surprisingly full, bready citrus notes, rustic and crisp note, slight yeast, malty sweetness in the back balanced out perfectly to a flowery, slight perfumal, even creamy and dry finish. Medium body, low to medium carbo. So great.

33cl bottle poured into a tulip glass.
Aroma: Apple, touch of citrus (I’m reminded of an Affligem for some reason, but it’s less floral).
Appearance: Pours a golden body with a nice, thick head. Good retention and lacing.
Taste: Follows aroma, with some sweet maltiness. Somewhat bitter, earthy.
Palate: Light carbonation, light bodied. Discreet aftertaste, not unpleasant but a bit mild for my tastes.
Overall: I’m surprised at the high ratings -- this is my first Saison and I’m a bit disappointed as I can’t really tell a difference from a regular Belgian Pale Ale. I may try it again once I’m more knowledgeable about the style.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Henrik. Yup, no doubt that this is a saison. It’s smells arch-typical saison yeasty and really fruity. Lots of apples and banana (?) here. Some wheat sweetness, but still kinda dry. Slight hint of pineapple. Yeah, this is nice stuff. Tastes lovely also. It’s really smooth and almost a look the velvety in the mouth while the soft prickling carbonation makes this really smooth in the mouth. Fruity and again, arch typical saison-ish. It’s really elegant and balanced this. Soft candy, some red apple skin with traces of pepper and bitter clementine zest in the back. Yeah, not much more to say. A lovely saison. 22.08.2014
