Poured this from a 750 ml bottle into tulip glasses. We had this with some Thai food, and it was a perfect match for the meal.
This beer rivaled Duvel for it’s magnificent pillowy head. Thick foam towered in the glass, marked by giant moon craters. Excellent lacing all the way to the bottom of the glass.
Aromas typical of Belgian ales. Fruity, with hints of banana and cloves and the distinct Belgian yeastiness.
Flavor was excellent. Fruity and slightly sweet to start off, with a clean, crisp slightly bitter finish to cleanse the palate. It went exceptionally well with our dinner.
Light, refreshing mouthfeel.
Overall, an excellent beer and the best example of the style I have had, barely edging out Hennepin. A superb choice for a dinner companion, especially with Thai food.

Jul 25, 2008 bottle at louie’s. Man this is a great beer. Well balanced like the commercial description says. And understated. Aroma of yeast and floral hops. Wonderfully mild farmhouse flavor with dry finish.

Jul 20, 2008 bottle from monopoly outlet, Oslo. Pours hazy orange with large white head. Carrotjuice and scotch whiskydistillery on the nose. Nice and dry. I expected more fruityness. Very dry finish

Jul 18, 2008 Has anyone ever confused this with a hefeweizen? Color and palate seem very similar. I’ve had this beer plenty of times but my 1st rating of it when the beer is in front of me. Aroma is captivating. Some slight bitter and off flavors on the finish. Floral, hay, summer day in the mountains cool refreshing type of beer, yet still showing a lot of hops. Could see how this could be considered the model all other Saison’s are produced from. There is a weight and concentration I can’t remember any other Saison having. I believe the cork was branded with the year, 2008. Very nice feature.

Jul 16, 2008 750mL: Pours a cloudy yellow opaque, big white head, decent lacing. Aroma of flowers, some hops, subtle aroma. Flavor reminiscent of Hoegaarden, very strong perfume, frothy, warm, good mouthfeel.
