KnN (711), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Oct 31, 2009 Pours a cloudy brown color with a thin off white head. Aroma was spicy, peppery, a little sour, some nice malt notes. Flavor was similar. A really nice spiciness that was really satisfying. A good sour twinge in the back and a nice malt balance. This was a really nice beer. travita (1798), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 11, 2009 The look is cloudy, some sediment, beige foamy head. The smell is spices, slight funky, yeast, and decent. The taste is fruits, medium body, drier, some sediment, caramel, and yeast. beernovice39 (235), South Carolina, USA Oct 10, 2009 Not something I would want to consume often. Sweet stuff and not what I like in a beer, but its not bad by any means....drinkable. Lots of debris in this also....... DeadGirl (183), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Oct 5, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009Pour from the 750ml bottle: Pretty good, not great. Perhaps it’s the alcoholic finish, or the overall sweetness in the malts. Notable flavors: raisins, caramel malts, barley, spicy plum. Overall: Pretty complex and hard. Rebuy: Indecisive. #127 on 05102009, DG. RedSox2004 (352), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Sep 25, 2009 Hazy dark copper, almost brown, with a generous rocky head and excellent lacing. Slightly tart dark fruit and melon aromas support an earthy essence. Spices, cherries and carmelized malt sugars are added to the palate. Wonderfully complex flavor profile. Slick, creamy mouthfeel, plenty of carbonation, and a pleasantly seet malt aftertaste. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 17, 2009 750 ml bottle - mild gushing and poured quickly into a glass; surprisingly dark with off-white head with minor floaties; spicy, yeasty nose reminding me a little of LA 10 Commandments; musky, some fruit. soft and yeasty; kind of yummy, but also kind of strange; dry, but not in the expected saison fashion; also get some honey and dank fruit stefanje (933), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Sep 12, 2009 750 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a hazy copper color with a big beige head that has good retention and lacing. The aroma is lightly fruity with raisins, pears, some bread yeast and a bit of booze. The flavor is malts forward with caramel malts, dark fruits, cola and barley. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. The finish is short and dry and leaves the back of my throat a bit numb. Overall: Not what I expect in a Saison, but its still pretty good. arrogantb (694), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 8, 2009 The appearance of this beer was a nice red color with a fluffy white head lazily floating atop the beer. The smell was a little funk (just a little) and some spices. The taste was good and had some tartness and sourness but not very much. It was also spicy and had a distinct taste that reminded me of watermelon (just barely). This was a pretty decent ale and it hid the alcohol well. Also, at $6 it was a good deal.
