Beer pours a dark chestnut body and a bountiful light khaki head. The flavor and aroma are drenched with candied sugar, maple syrup, molasses, dark pit fruits, and stereotypical beady Belgian yeast. There is a suggestion of anis and clove, coco and cola that can all be found once the beer nearly reaches room temperature. Hold off… I’m picking up on a root beer like presence… wintergreen? The palate is lean but creamy with a hint of rotting figs on the finish. Good Beer but not one I’d seek out again. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 15, 2007 Pours with an orange-amber body topped by a very thick head with lots of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a nice sour, tart, barnyard note that is very evident in the nose, but also in the flavor. A slight grassy hoppiness also shows through. Medium bodied, crisp and smooth. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 8, 2007 bottle. pours a clouded orange tan with a cream beige head that sticks to the end. dry band aid nose with lavender and some soap. not as bad as that sounds, honest. very dry rubber flavor with some light orange notes. too much plastic for me. the sweetness that accompanies the alcohol is not enough here. leaves a bad flavor remaining that reminds me of carpet fresh room deodorizer. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

As much as I try to enjoy this Brewmaster’s Collection I can’t help but think that the name is just a marketing ploy to get rid of a bunch of shitty beer. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 27, 2006 750 ml bottle from Rozi’s in Lakewood, OH (October 2006) sampled from a Duvel glass at cellar temperature in early December. Very dark mahogany-maple, mostly clear, with a frothy tan head slow-dying and leaving spotty flecks of lacing....mild spicy aroma, caramel and plummy-grapy notes dominate, a bit of citrus and faint rosemary, candied orangepeel.....thick, extremely sweet caramelly body, vanilla and raisins, much more typical of an oversweet, simple Belgian strong ale than a saison, little to no earthiness, funk, spiciness in the body, clean and smooth, some orange at the front and vaguely mineralic to finish.....syrupy-thick, cloying, too-low carbonation makes this sticky and very hard to drink. Umm, no thanks I’ve had enough. GregClow (2495), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Reddish-orange with a small white head. Aroma and flavour are both quite sweet, with notes of tropical fruit and yeast. Finishes with some nice drying bitterness. Not too bad... mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
