3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sliffy (2035) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 10, 2007
Bottle: Pours a hazy purple/brown color with a big foamy white head. Aroma, funky, some sweetness, and some spice. Flavor, soft funk to it, a bit sour, bready, some sweet fruity notes, tart, a bit of a floral quality as well.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 durhambeer (2028) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 27, 2008
UPDATED: APR 28, 2008 Bottle from Raleigh WBF. Darker pour than regular saison. Spicy brett on the nose and palate. A bit sweet. Butterscotch hit me on the nose pretty hard, which the brewer said wasn’t a good sign, but it was fine with me. Still would probably prefer a normal saison, but his is an interesting beer.

Second tasting: had a bottle of this again and really liked it. Bright orange/golden pour. Kind of like a malty and extra yeasty saison, but not necessarily even all that much like a saison. Just good.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 shp555 (2024) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - AUG 17, 2007
Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is fruity, tart, and slightly bitter. Flavor is malty, tart, fruity, and a bitter finish. Not a typical saison style.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - JUN 23, 2006
Clear dark amber/mahogany with 2 finger off white head. Aroma is quite nice, but nothing like a saison, more belgian dubbel almost. Plenty of caramel, dark fruit, tiny bit of floral, and very faint yeast, but caramel/sweet malt really dominates everything. Flavor is all caramel through and through, barely able to detect anything else. Faint banana and spice but not much else. Really isn’t a bad beer, just not a saison. Sweetness becomes very cloying by the end of the bottle.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Enniskillen (2008) - Salinas, California, USA - JUN 15, 2006
Color is brown with a light tan head.
Aroma is a bit mettalic with caramel, chocolate, dried fruit, raspberries.
Taste is a sugary with a nice malt background, caramel and some oak. Body is smooth.

Thanks to Eugene (beastiefan2k) for sharing this at Dickinsonbeer’s place. It was weird that he brought this as Paul and I were talking about this beer before he showed up with it. Anyway, Hazy amber in color with a moderate to large white head. Aroma is bretty with some phenolics (spice), moderately malty and funky. Taste is a bit more reserved on the wild yeast side of things with more saison yeast, spicy phenolics, pale and caramel malts, and a moderate bittering finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - MAY 22, 2006
Interesting beer! Very enjoyable. Aroma was peppery and yeasty. Amber in color, slightly hazy. Mouthfeel was very smooth. Flavors were spicy, bready, herby and sweet. Can’t really notice the alcohol much. I would recommend this saison. Very tasty.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Kevin (1951) - Colorado, USA - JAN 8, 2007
bottle. pours a clouded orange tan with a cream beige head that sticks to the end. dry band aid nose with lavender and some soap. not as bad as that sounds, honest. very dry rubber flavor with some light orange notes. too much plastic for me. the sweetness that accompanies the alcohol is not enough here. leaves a bad flavor remaining that reminds me of carpet fresh room deodorizer.
