COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saisons were traditionally brewed to very low alcohol content in order to refresh farmers while they worked the fields. In keeping with that drinkable tradition, our version weighs in at a very thirst-quenching 3.8% alcohol. Brewed with pale malted barley, raw oats, raw rye, Belgian yeast, and English, American, & French hops. Left unfiltered, it refreshes while giving a subtle spice from the yeast and grains and a gentle hop bitterness.

Not a saison. Pours clear light yellow with almost no head, think light American lager. Only light malt on the nose and the tongue picks up minimal difference.

The Sampler, Brooklyn growler pour: Pours a pale gold with a wee white head. Aroma is some farmhouse funk, but pretty light. Body is, of course, very light. Nice straw, and a bit of dryness. Unfortunately, my pour was a little wack because of the low carbonation. It was fine nonetheless. Good for drinking in the sun.

Keg at the Pony Bar UES - NYC. Pours lightly hazy yellow with a fine, white cream head. Mild dry yeast in the aroma, some faint dough, spicy coriander. Restrained flavor, some dry dough, light citrus rind and yeast. Pleasant. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild toasty hay bitterness to finish, some crisp dough, very soft grass. OK but the overall character is a touch flat.

Pint at New World Home Kitchen. Ok aroma,.sweet, mild funk. Little lemony, cheesey funk. Tad hazed golden yellow color, little to no head, or lace. Sweet/ sour flavor. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, light sour finish. Meh, kind of weak. i guess as I read description it isn’t off from that. Just uninteresting.

Growler from Beer Street, 03/30/2013. Pours golden hazy orange, medium white head and decent lacing. Nose is fruity esters and yeast, banana and bubble gum, light clove and white pepper, wheat. Taste is pale malts and wheat, easy lemon overtones, spicy herbal notes, yeast. Crisp, light body. NIce session saison, could knock back a few of these.

I love this beer. It is so smooth and not bitter at all. It is a nice golden color and is a great spring or summer beer.

On tap at Draught 55 in NYC. A weak saison I thought, just in comparison to all the others I have tasted. Had a hard time finishing it... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A yeasty wheat-ish Belgian blond ale. Ordinary beer and not much of a Saison
How: Tap at Tap-NY 2012
The look: Partly cloudy blond body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is yeasty, banana-ish fruity esters, but nothing really rustic in the aroma of this so-called Saison. Taste is a bit like a wheat ale (crisp wheat, notes of bananas, etc.) with spicy grassy hops. I suspect a lot of wheat in the malt bill. A bit more bitter than usual for the style and that saves it from being a bland wheaty yeasty blonde ale. There a light dustiness probably coming from the yeast, I guess that this light dustiness is what makes it a Saison. You have to see me go around during beer festivals, each beer at each beer stand are to me what laser pointers are to cats.
