3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Leighton (6931) - London, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2013
Keg at the Pony Bar UES - NYC. Pours lightly hazy yellow with a fine, white cream head. Mild dry yeast in the aroma, some faint dough, spicy coriander. Restrained flavor, some dry dough, light citrus rind and yeast. Pleasant. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild toasty hay bitterness to finish, some crisp dough, very soft grass. OK but the overall character is a touch flat.

Pint at New World Home Kitchen. Ok aroma,.sweet, mild funk. Little lemony, cheesey funk. Tad hazed golden yellow color, little to no head, or lace. Sweet/ sour flavor. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, light sour finish. Meh, kind of weak. i guess as I read description it isn’t off from that. Just uninteresting.

I love this beer. It is so smooth and not bitter at all. It is a nice golden color and is a great spring or summer beer.

On tap at Draught 55 in NYC. A weak saison I thought, just in comparison to all the others I have tasted. Had a hard time finishing it...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 29, 2012
In short: A yeasty wheat-ish Belgian blond ale. Ordinary beer and not much of a Saison
How: Tap at Tap-NY 2012
The look: Partly cloudy blond body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is yeasty, banana-ish fruity esters, but nothing really rustic in the aroma of this so-called Saison. Taste is a bit like a wheat ale (crisp wheat, notes of bananas, etc.) with spicy grassy hops. I suspect a lot of wheat in the malt bill. A bit more bitter than usual for the style and that saves it from being a bland wheaty yeasty blonde ale. There a light dustiness probably coming from the yeast, I guess that this light dustiness is what makes it a Saison. You have to see me go around during beer festivals, each beer at each beer stand are to me what laser pointers are to cats.
