Saku Kuld – a modern classic, the absolute elite of Estonian beers, a combination of Saku’s hundreds-of-years-old brewing traditions, and the newest technology. With a rich taste, foam, and aroma, a delicate balance of freshness and mildness characterizes the taste of Saku Kuld. The freshness comes from Nordic oat malt and velvety smoothness is added to the refined bouquet by Hallertau hops. In addition, Saku Kuld is characterized by a clear colour and thick firm foam. Saku Kuld is sold in unique bottles with a relief of the Saku arms.

50 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Nice medium thick head. Positively surpised. A clean, dry, easy going taste without any nastiness sometimes associated with cheap lager. Good for binge drinking. I prefer it to most german, scandinavian or british lagers.

500 ml bottle at Ola. Golden with thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt and sugary wort. Taste is sweet, euro lager, sugar with little to no hops. Tastes like a thinner tuborg sort guld

This lager is somewhat pale with a golden glow. Foam formation is moderate. The aroma is a little anonymous and boring and reveals little tame hops. Taste-wise it is a little watery, but does have a fairly reasonable malty sweetness that stands in nice contrast to a hoppy aftertaste. It is certainly not the best lager I have tasted, but downright bad is it does not. It is anonymous and tastes like an ordinary mainstream lager as any national brewery can do.

Good malty aroma. Malty, watery and slightly bitter taste. Decent bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth to a weak moment. Okay thirst quencher. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

500ml brown bottle with a relief of the breweries logo and a foil sealed cap poured into a lager glass. Appearance is clear pale golden with a large frothy off-white head, that reduced quickly leaving a little lacing. Aroma of corn flakes, cereal, honey and lemon zest. Flavours of cereal, honey, bread and a hint of lemon zest and alcohol. Taste is light-medium sweet and medium bitter. Palate is light bodied, somewhat slick texture and average carbonation. Saku Kuld is a plain standard European pale lager, slightly too sweet and boozy.
