NOTE: This is not really a rating. I’m converting my old notes over to BR. This is more like "check" for my own purposes, that I have indeed drunk this beer at the time it was produced.

From the archives: Black Ice beer. Not really a dunkel. Watered down Vienna more likely. Experimenting is a good thing. Was ok. Possibly had only one batch made.

Clear glass bottle with a pull ring cap. Maybe it doesn’t matter because it tastes unnatural anyway. Body is not black but dark brown/red. Head is very light. Aroma has some rye and sourness. Taste is watery and slightly acidic. Lifeless.

suurjuust (2854) - ESTONIA - OCT 25, 2010
Dark ruby color, tan head. Aroma of grain, sweet malt. Tastes of corn, malt, sweet bread, dried fruit, water and finishes with a hint of dryness. Somehow manages to be pretty bland.

Bottled (tnx Kairit, BB 10/2010)
Dark nut brown color, small vanishing coca cola head. Grainy aroma has notes of toffee, metal and toasted rye. Palate is watery. Flavor has some licorice, boiled vegetables and cardboard. Notes of similar dark malts than in Saku Tume. Typical Saku sweetcorn maltyness. Quite useless dunkel.

Bottled (thanks to Saku!). Ruby red colour with mediumsized foamy beige head. Aroma is fruits, toffee, some grains and grass. Flavour is being quite similar with some rather sugary notes. Mild dark dry fruits as well.

330ml clear glass bottle with ringpull cap (Rimi, Tallinn)
Rich read, and with a tan head, but with my new automatic -1 for clear glass bottles, I have to give this only 2. Horrid burning plastic aroma, some puke too. Soft carbonation, but a watery palate. A very simple lager taste, with just a touch of caramel. Boring. Finish quite porridgy, and with some unfermented wortiness. Can’t be arsed to stress my synapses working out how to sum this up in all its glorious blandness.

0,33L bottle. Ice beers do not like me . Saku black ice is another ice beer without good taste. Black color is interesting, but I did not feel any aroma. Some caramel taste.

mjs (6466) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 13, 2010
(Bottle, a clear one - drunk because of FatPhil’s evilness) Poured dark brown and clear. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma was one of melting plastic. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were caramell, plastic, hint of bitterness and wort. No aftertaste with was really good thing.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2010 330ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a foamy head. Dried fruit and caramel feature in the aroma. Caramel, dried fruit and sweet malt are detected in the taste.
