2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 10, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 11, 2008 Medium gold with a crisp white froth. Oat bread underpinnings; floral, pear and banana accents add a sense of delicacy. A gentle, taffy sweetness before a soft, flowery finish; restrained acidity. Almost creamy and a bit dense with subtle carbonation.
Quaffable brew --oddly reminiscent of a Belgian ale at times-- that could handle more brightness and carbonation.
50cl can, best before 14 November 2008.
1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 taunusmies (309) - FINLAND - JUN 7, 2008
Golden colour, medium-sized fluffy head. Sweet malty aroma, buttery notes, grassy hops, a bit metallic taste. Nothing special, just a one more pale lager.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 FatPhil (5970) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 31, 2008
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2011 500ml bottle (3:2:4:2:5=1.6)
Cold. No aroma. Rich yellow, brief white head. Bland lagery taste, mass-produced, quite chemical hops. Fizzy palate. Blah. Bleh.
Rerate: Tap
4 Almost nothing. Vague milky light grains, very bland. Later a bit of honey.
2 Pale and fizzy
3 Simple light grain maltiness, again vague.
2+ Waterry and fizzy. Finish at least has real hops, with a pleasant bitter bite, and even seems to be whole hops rather than extract.
8 Very clean, no noticeable flaws at all. I didn’t mind chugging this, which I guess is what the brewer intended. (Unless he accidentally pressed the ’add hops’ button.)
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 JK54B (1202) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 27, 2008
Light straw colour. A thin white head. Some hoppinessin the taste. Also some hoppiness in the aftertaste. The beer was packed in a 0.33 l can.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Maverick34 (1322) - New York, USA - MAY 18, 2008
Bottled. A little bit sweet for a mass-market export lager. Not as bad as the reviews here would indicate - Not sure why people have such high expectations for such a thing.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 afireinside96 (924) - Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 18, 2008
.5L bottle best before 12/28/07, poured into a lager glass. Light gold in color with a large dense white head. Smells of husky grains and grassy hops. Though the flavor isn’t over the top it is a pleasant grassy flavor. It finishes dry with a lingering grassiness. I can’t believe that i am drinking the same beer as everyone else here because I don’t think this stuff is half bad even though it is past its prime a bit.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 cyrenaica (745) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2008
500ml bottle
4.60% ABV
I tried this beer on May 8, 2008 after purchasing a couple of bottles from the Queens Quay LCBO outlet (one was given to lenusik). The beer poured a very pale golden yellow with a bubbly white head that quickly disappeared. The aroma was very sick grainy malt with a slight hoppy hint. The mouthfeel was medium bodied. The flavour was very grassy.
