COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

bottle... dark coca cola brown, watery light tan head is gone right away... really fruity aroma that reminds me of a new quad, dark fruits, prunes, molasses, a bit of spice, interesting, smells really sweet and weird an off for a porter, but not bad... the taste is just off, weird malty wort, tons of malt, a little skunk with chocolate and hint of bitterness... mouthfeel is really light but you can’t tell the alcohol level... very average

Date: November 12, 2011 Mode: Bottle Source: BVery Dark brown pour with nice head, slight carbonation, caramel and coffee aroma and taste. Got an Estonia rating on top of a good beer!

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a really nice cream colored soapy head. Aroma is dark fruit/fig and burnt sugar. Fairly dense palate for a porter. Taste is sugar/sweet, fig/raisin, and a touch of licorice. Good stuff.

There aren’t many other imported dark beers available in my neighborhood for $1.69 for a 500 ml bottle, and this is one I keep going back to. It has much more character and complexity than I expected from a relatively cheap Estonian beer. The aroma is bread and chocolate with perhaps a hint of coffee. It pours a dark brown with a quickly vanishing head. The body is as full as I expect from a porter, albeit a little oily, and there is little carbonation. The long finish brings out the roasted malts. I would recommend this even if it cost twice as much.

Near opaque brown with a brown head. Bread and brown sugar aroma. Taste is sweet chocolate and brown sugar with burnt sugar, vinous and alcohol finish. Sticky.

500 ml bottle i Tallin - Very dark brown colour and and creamish brown head - malty caramel aroma medium sweet - taste is a bit mild for this power ale, but a bit raisin and burnt sugar - not much bitterness - medium carbonation

500 ml bottle, from a potential importer. ABV is 6.9%. New bottle and label design, quite stylish. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large tan head. Malty aroma, notes of brown bread and caramel, okay but not very exciting. The flavour is also very malty with caramel and bready notes, also some burnt sugar and burnt breadcrumbs. Minimal hops. Nice enough to drink.

A strange smell of grape from this one, but good -- not so for a beer, but good. Tastes like dry grapey porter with hops mixed in. Worth a try, but nothing more.
