COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

4/29/10. New country tick! The pour is a not quote opaque black with a huge brown head that fades to a little guy in a bit. The aroma is slight roasted malt with lots of tinny metal. The flavor is also very metallic with undertones of dusty chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Nothing special here.

0.5l bottle from a Rimi supermarket, 7% brewed in Tallinn. Very dark red, almost black body, tan thick head that went away relatively slow. Light nose, raisins, some coffee, chalk and dark malt. Sweet and salty taste, coffee, some smoked ham notes. A bit unbalanced really.

Bottle. Poured dark brown color with a large light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium toasted malt aroma. Medium body with smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with medium sweet finish of moderation. Average porter.

500 ml bottle (BBE231009, sampled 3/2010). Deep brown color, espresso head. Dark fruit aroma with roasted notes. Slightly home-brewed chocolate flavor with a coffee finish. Full body, medium carbonation. Better than I remembered.

500mL. Pours a deep ruby with a large tan head that is fizzy, cola-like and has pretty good retention and no lace. Aroma is grainy, corn, sweet malt, almost lagerish. As it warms you can get some smoke, dried meats, and even oxidized apple slices. Taste is boozy, watery, malty, dirty, metallic. Meh.

Chalky milk chocolate mocha aroma. Dark creamy chocolatey body, short lived slick watery tan head. Chewy and gritty chocolate malt, dry roast forward, sweetens and softens in body through the experience.

A big beer that’s surprisingly subtle. Very dark red pour. Sweet aroma. Flavor is also generally sweet with a nice hint of chocolate. The finish becomes quite dry with a pleasant smooth roasted quality, touch of hop bitterness at the end.

Okay, color is great black with dark brown head, but the beer bubbles way too much so after the head disappeares (which happes pretty quickly) the beer looks like coca-cola in the class; aroma of chocolate, liquorice and syrup: overly sweet and besides that something strange, soapy thing - or if it´s the cheap vodka-like alcohol, I don´t know - in the side is trying to ruin the nose the best it can; medium body, not perfectly smooth, a bit overcarbonated; sweet flavor of roasted malt, chocolate and liquorice with mild bitterness in finish; slightly wet.
