COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

Poured two and half fingers on a pitch black body. The head was quickly gone though. The aroma is faint: roasted and black malt. The taste is darkness with a sweet touch. Burnt and roasted malt with a sweet finish. The texture is smooth with low carbonation. It’s lacking in the smell area but the taste is nice.

500 ml bottle into a snifter, ABV 6.9% Dark mahogany brown on the body, small beige head, a but thin, with good retention nevertheless. Foam islands left on the surface after it collapses along with light lacing around the glass. Aroma has fruits, milky chocolate , light roasted malts. Taste is refreshingly fruity with milky chocolate, a touch ofroasted malts on the finish, quite sweet in general. Medium body with right amount of carbonation and a nice dryness on the palate. This is surely a highly drinkable beer and it doesn’t show it’s alcohol at all, easy to get carried away with this one.

Yeah, here it goes. I have had this one more than 20 bottles this winter. This is the best Estonian Porter this season. Creamy, dark roasted, loads of caramel and still well balanced and drinkable. A huge surprise from mass brewery.

Nice porter with tastes of chocolate, malt, and a hint of molasses. Pours nicely with a light brown head. Very nice beer.

Pours very deep reddish brown, almost black, with medium-sized tanned head. Aroma is sweet with some caramel and over-ripe fruits. Taste is very sweet too with caramel, honey and roasted malts. Finishes with a faint hint of bitterness. Decent porter, although it is quite sweet. (0,5 l bottle, best before 21 Nov. 2014)

Received in trade from RobertDale, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a solid dark brown color with a decent sized khaki head that persists quite well. Aromas of bread, caramel, a bit of cherry and plum and a little wet cardboard. The flavor is fairly sweet with lots of brown sugar and caramel. Hints of chocolate, dark fruits, and earth round out the flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a chalky ashy creamy mouthfeel. Kind of sweet and sticky, but somewhat drinkable.

Bottle from rosenbergh, many thanks Jan. Very dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, red fruits. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, caramel. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Good.

500mL bottle with the great purple label. You know there just aren’t enough beers with black and purple labels, its a nice color combo. Love the bottle shape and embossing. Bottom of the bottle says beer in a few different languages. Not to mention the awesome price. 2.99 a bottle, nice. Without making too much out of this rating the beer is right on the mark for s Baltic porter. My only complaint is the aroma is over ally layered, a bit of metal sneaking in. The flavor is very strong on lagered chocolate and fumy ash. Pours with a pretty head. Long aftertaste and well lagered.

Ruikt zwaar zoet, naar een echte porter. In het hostel uit de fles. Appearance dus niet te zien. Goed mondgevoel en vrij lichte smaak voor de biersoort. Wel lekker!
