COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

Bottle - pours out pitch black with medium thick lingering head. Nose of molasses, caramel, roasted malt. Taste is of cane sugar, sweet malt, caramel, and molasses. Good way to finish a meal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cola black beer with a big mocha head. Aroma of ripe sweet dark fruits. Flavors of dark ripe fruits and red berries. Lovely sweetness typical to a baltic porter. Liquorice and mämmi. Medium body. I love sweet baltic porters and this is a good one.

My first Estonian beer, and Batlic porter seems to be the way to go here. Dark but slightly ruby. More sweet than roasty, either chocolate caramel or caramel latte. Rich and creamy. A bargain to boot.

0.5L bottle. Soiled clothes first and then little coffe grounds aroma. Cool used motor oil color with brown hat. Very cool look. Taste is also fat oili. Correct porter feeling and taste. Remind little summer clove and herbs. Little vanilla and little coffee caramel. Everything is on balance. Finish is bit alcohol, but not disturb very much. Best baltic porter so far.

Near opaque brown with a brown head. Bread and brown sugar aroma. Taste is sweet chocolate and brown sugar with burnt sugar, vinous and alcohol finish. Sticky.

Bottle from a Comarket in Tallinn (€ 1,19), Sept 2014. BB 12/07/15. Pours black with a mahagony glare - head is big, creamy in coulour, laces nicely and drops slowly. Disturbingly, the aroma recalls boiled vegetables and some bad black bread, cold black coffee, caramel or molasses, it’s sweet, sour and acidic. Taste is quite sweet of caramelised sugar, also a lot of roasty malts, black bread, it’s also got some bitterness to it. Overall not very pleasant, metallic, acidic, sour taste. Body and carbonation medium, dry and metallic on the palate, a bit watery even. Metallic finish with very little but pronounced, daggering bitterness. Both times I’ve recently had this I’ve wished this was in a smaller bottle. I ain’t a fan.

Well I’m not sure this was a porter, but it was alright. Some caramel malt sweetness from an amber coloured, thin mouth-feel, easy-drinking beer. There was some fruitiness (raisins, plums) and some mild sweetness in the finish. Not robust enough to score high as a baltic porter but a nice ber.

Bottle from Jan, thanks! Black with a thick khaki coloured head. Aroma is roasted and slightly tart, has some cacao and sweetness to it. Taste is sweet with chocolate, light roast and hops, slight alcohol. Medium body, high but smooth carbonation, smooth and round mouth feel. Short after taste.

Nearly black color with a big white head. Aroma is malty with dark bread and rye pudding, also some metallic notes. Taste is roasty but also sweet. Maltiness is moderate, the mouthfeel very soft and medium to full bodied. Flavours include rye bread, some chocolate and a hint of licorice. Alcohol does not feature. Well, this was decent but not up to the top Finnish porters like Sinebrychoff Porter or Malmgårds porters.

(Bottle) A very pretty porter in my glass. Aroma is extremely liquorice and the flavor is wuite bitter. It’s very rounded though and nice.
