COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

Very thick and creamy light brown head. Nice contrast with total black color. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and syurup. Thick palate. I have to say that the flavor is little bit disappointing after great appearance and decent aroma. Flavor is mild with roasted malts, bitterish and metal. No noticable aftertaste.

Black, brown intense head. Aroma is malty, as expected. Liquorice in flavor, decent hops, bitter finish. Feels much lighter than it seems. Not nearly as good as Koff Porter, but a solid brew.

Täysin tumma ja musta väri, viipyvä vaahto, tuoksusta ei jääkylmänä juuri saa mitään irti, maku lupailee tumman leivän tyyppistä aromia, pikkaisen lämmenneenä maku muistuttaa makeata leipää. Ulkonäyön puolesta ei moitittavaa, maku kyllä valitettavasti jää puolitiehen.

I have a soft spot for Baltic Porters, and while this isn’t really a sophisticated beer, it’s got a good nose and flavour that reminds me of bread pudding. Not bad.

Ruikt zwaar zoet, naar een echte porter. In het hostel uit de fles. Appearance dus niet te zien. Goed mondgevoel en vrij lichte smaak voor de biersoort. Wel lekker!

Bottle 500ml from Tallinn. Pours a dark brown reddish color with medium tan head that leaves some lacing. Medium carbonation, full body. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel and roasted malt. Flavor is strong roasted malt, some chocolate and caramel and a little hops. Somewhat sweet too. Tastes better if it’s warmer.

tastes like a porter - looks like a brown ale. little maltiness - but tastes like it was brewed with some sugar. little bit of hoppiness. flavors of chocolate and coffee. not bad - nothing spectacular.

Pours very deep reddish brown, almost black, with medium-sized tanned head. Aroma is sweet with some caramel and over-ripe fruits. Taste is very sweet too with caramel, honey and roasted malts. Finishes with a faint hint of bitterness. Decent porter, although it is quite sweet. (0,5 l bottle, best before 21 Nov. 2014)
