COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

So what do you say about another mediocre porter? Well it is darker with a thin quickly discipating tan head. The nose and taste are just about the same, bland dry malts and just a dab of caramel. Porters suck.

Thanks to whoever brought this to the Toronto Christmas Party ’04. Raisiny nose - Quite sweet. Orangish thin head. Flavor is malt, rasins and grapes. Alcohol is apparent in the finish. Not like any other porter I’ve had.

Clear black colour, has a creamy head, mostly lasting. Aroma has bread and roasted notes. Flavor mainly sweet. Finish perhaps a bit bitter.

Bottle. Pours almost black with thick, quickly dissipating head. Aroma taste has malts. High carbonation for a porter.

Bottle. Murky brown color with a laced light brown head. Malty aroma. My friends said it smelled like soy sauce, and with a side-by-side comparison I think they might be right. I smell the alcohol and the malts. Pretty light body but leaves a long aftertaste.

50 cl bottle. (This version 7,5 % and the name Julebryg - Saku Porter). No yeast in bottom. Very dark colour nearly black with a nice head. Nice aroma of roasted and chocolate malt. Flavour of malt and roastedness, very average porter. Overall nothing speciel.

Øl (50 cl) købt på arbejdet til 30 kr. Øllen er sort med flot højt brunt skum. Den dufter ikke af meget, og meget mild i smagen af en porter. For mig er den nærmest kedelig - virker lidt flad

Bottle pours dark brown with amber hue small tan head. Aroma is soy sauce, dark fruits, coffee, and molasses. Taste is similar to aroma yet watery with a slick oily texture. Not a great balance and too sweet for my liking.

500ml bottle. Deep brown black with a respectable beige head. Brutal burnt raisin and brown sugar aroma. I never remember Saku being the bomb or anything, but it’s really quite bad now. Extract tasting, thick molasses brown sugar tones. Cheap nonsense beer, the kind that wouldn’t surprise you if it was brewed in radioactive steel kettles. Maybe it’s old, maybe it is just bad.

bottle... dark coca cola brown, watery light tan head is gone right away... really fruity aroma that reminds me of a new quad, dark fruits, prunes, molasses, a bit of spice, interesting, smells really sweet and weird an off for a porter, but not bad... the taste is just off, weird malty wort, tons of malt, a little skunk with chocolate and hint of bitterness... mouthfeel is really light but you can’t tell the alcohol level... very average
