COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

50cl bottle from "Lifesource" Salem. $3.49 Pours a dark brown with a nice sized tan head. Dark chocolate, treacle and dark fruitiness abound in the nose. Smooth treacle, molasses taste, some hints of elderberry and blackcurrant, slightly salty, finishes with alcohol. Ok palate good but average for style This is OK a good beer but sadly for me not a good Baltic.

Bottle 50 cl. Black brownish color with fast vanishing brownish frothy head. Notes of roasted malts, syrup, caramel, chocolate. Slightly wattery. Pretty easy to drink. Could do with some more depth and body tho.

Black with quick fading head. Some roast malt elements in aroma and taste. Not especially bitter. Perhaps some red berry sweetness in the finish.

Poirs a dark brown color with a nice foamy head that fades slowly with ample lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, bit of coffee, chocolate and dark fruit. Taste of roasted malt , dark chocolate, dark fruit and coffee. Nice bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Pretty full body, smooth, creamy with a nice warming touch. Enjoyable beer for the style. Good beer to kick back and relax with.

500ml bottle: BBD 24 Oct 14. Cheers Mat for bringing this to the October Shrewsbury bottle swap: shared between four. Pours]ed a dark ruby/brown with a tanned and creamy head. The nose was of sweet malty molasses with some plum like fruitiness. The taste also malty sweet and again with a plum feel, some liquorice also in a flavoursome mixture that had coffee traces within it too. Smooth in taste and body, with only a hint of alcohol coming through: very pleasant in deed.

50cl from Karlova Meie pood. Cola like appearance. Not tottaly black. Smell has some coffee notes. Otherwise it quite modest. Tastes like porter should taste. Quite allright beer. Best from Saku.

Reddish brown color. Big creamy beige head.soft earthy malt nose. Tasty sweet herbal malt flavor has a coffee-like character. Wonderfully smooth and creamy. Reminiscent of a German Dunkel or Marzen. Quite tasty.

500 ml bottle. Aroma of chocolate, biscuits and bit of coffee. Medium sweetness. Carbonation could be a bit softer, while the texture is too thin in my view. Overall, a recommendable porter.

Bottle from a Comarket in Tallinn (€ 1,19), Sept 2014. BB 12/07/15. Pours black with a mahagony glare - head is big, creamy in coulour, laces nicely and drops slowly. Disturbingly, the aroma recalls boiled vegetables and some bad black bread, cold black coffee, caramel or molasses, it’s sweet, sour and acidic. Taste is quite sweet of caramelised sugar, also a lot of roasty malts, black bread, it’s also got some bitterness to it. Overall not very pleasant, metallic, acidic, sour taste. Body and carbonation medium, dry and metallic on the palate, a bit watery even. Metallic finish with very little but pronounced, daggering bitterness. Both times I’ve recently had this I’ve wished this was in a smaller bottle. I ain’t a fan.
