3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml Bottle@Home (from Tallinn). Black appearance with smallish head. Sweet sugary aroma with roasted malts. Tastes also a bit too sweet for my liking with some roasted malts. Palate is medium and sticky sweet with medium carbonation. Sakus PŁhade Porter is too sweet for my taste but still overall a quite nice dark beer.

Saku PŁhade Porter 2013. Reddish black color, small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, raisin, licorice. Dry sweet taste with notes of roasted malt, caramel, dried fruits, dark chocolate. Medium body and average carbonation. Pretty simple but decent porter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
2013 version, sold only in four packs. The label says itís matured 12 months. No information about actual brewer (Aldaris Latvia?), it only says that distributor is Saku Estonia. Because of this trickery I will remove 2 points from my overall - there should be always clear information about where the beer came from.
Pours nice dark brown, almost black with tan head. The small head stays for a long time. Dry aroma of caramel with hints of chocolate. Taste: very sweet, chocolate, liquor, a little bit metallic. Itís also creamy. Nice dark chocolate bitter finish. Medium carbonation. Overall: a little bit too sweet for my taste, but itís one of the best Estonian beers I have tasted (altough I think I should say one of the best Latvian beers...?!)

Clear reddish black colour, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, red berries, quite a bit of caramel, malts, bread dough. Bitter flavour, roasted malts, caramel, bit sweet. Medium to full body. Finish cacao, milk chocolate, coffee and caramel. Hint of liquorice. Also works in summer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50 cl bottle @ olio. Rated on 07.05.2011
Aroma has licorice, roasted notes, coffee and hints of chocolate. Flavour has solvent‐like alcohol, licorice, some coffee and semi‐dark chocolate. The licorice notes are nice, but the solvent‐like ones are not. Much worse than the basic Saku Porter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma has herbs, syrup, crisp hoppiness. Dark red/black, beige head. Taste has licorice, roasted coffee, full and soft, low carbonation. Ok basic porter, nice flavors but mild aroma, good palate.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 500ml from ABC Beers. Pours a dark brown beer with a reddish hue through it. Forms a one-and-a-half finger of tanned head. Sweet, malty aroma, some coffee and licorice detected. Really subtle. Flavour goes like BOOM!. Full flavoured beer, full bodied. A bit unbalanced too the coffee and licorice bitterness, but still really tasty. Extremely smooth, no alcohol detected and little to medium carbonation. Great find from Estonia!

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0,5l bottle. Dark brown color. Medium beige head, stays. Sweet roasted malts in aroma, dried fruits. Raisins, caramel in body. Slightly disappointing for a winter special beer. I was expecting more depth.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.5l bottle from trade with ElDesmadre. After a loooong day with shopping, IKEA, re-organizing the entire bathroom, broken electricity and car problems, this Saturday the 14th is finally coming to an end, but before I crawl in to my bed I need a well deserved beer. The Saku pours a deep brown body with a small lacing and sidesticking brown-ish head. Itís not extreme on the nose, but I get chocolate and cold coffee hints next to something almost zesty-fruity and also some cocoa powder. It has a lot of flavor! Oheo! Did not expect that after the somewhat subtle - but nice - aroma. Itís really sweet with tons of chocolate. Itís quite overwhelming all that sweet milk-chocolate, but there is also a nice hoppy bitterness all the way. Quite smooth actually, medium-bodied with a average to soft carbonation level. Yeah, this was a tasty one! 14.04.2012
