"Roasted caramel", toast, cereal, very strong, almost like soy sauce and rum raisins, banana too. That’s quite much it, it’s just so strong aroma. Taste is perhaps little too liqueurish, sweet and a bit sour too... some bitterness too. But they are nothing compared to the strong aroma, which isn’t nothing "special", it’s just a good "average" sweet malt. But it reminds me of Vana Tallinn liqueur and sweet and roasted rum. But it is so strong aroma and sweetness, that it is rather difficult to drink it.

Dark reddish brown. Aroma is very sweet, fruity (reminds me of pearcider..), a hint of roast malts. Taste has little sting of alcohol, roasted malts, sweetness. Aftertaste is bitter with warmth from alchohol.

Grima (1861) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - APR 29, 2013
Bottle from Stockmann-Herkku, Helsinki, Finland!
Pours dark ruby red with high, creamy off-white head. Smells malty-sweet, very caramelly, comparable to a german "Malzbier". Starts with sweet dark malts and dark fruits. In the background some roasted malts are noticeable. Middle part has also lots of dark fruits and dark (roasted) malts, paired with chocolate and some caramel. Goes into a dark fruity finish with coffee, rasin and caramel!

brugmanneke (222) - GERMANY - APR 20, 2013
(50 cl bottle) Brown , clear, with a beige head that disappears quickly. Aroma is of roasted malts, with hints of coffee, caramel and licorice. Not that bad! Taste is rather sweet, with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Oily, a bit sticky texture. Ok.

Lukaduke (1013) - Portland, Maine, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Pours a roasted brown color with a finger of eggshell foam. The nose is brown sugar, toffee and some sweet date fruit. The palate is sticky and overly sweet with a mouthcoating caramel flavor that is only drowned out by more brown sugar and sweet date fruit. Long sugary mouthcoating finish, not my thing.

BeerViking (1426) - Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, GERMANY - DEC 31, 2012
50cl bottle, deep red brown with a lacy beige head and aromas of roast coffee, prunes and a little liquorice, rich bodied, initially sweet with burnt caramel but then drying as the roastiness comes in, before sweetening again with dark fruit and coffee notes for the finish. Then a fruity yet dry bitter aftertaste. Better than I remember it from 10+ years ago.
