Dry flavor with lots of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate and some faint vanilla in the background. nice change after many blonds.

A Mes rate: cask at the Welly. Black body, tan head, Good looking. Faint roasted malt, slight chocolate and a fairly big hit of vanilla. Bitter coffee finish deals with the sweetness of the flavour easily. Another solid beer from Salamander.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark chocolate, mild coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat. [20090717]

Pours deep chestnut brown with a small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has lots of dark chocolate, light coffee and softly roasted malts. Soft carbonation, fine dry mouthfeel. Flavour is dry, roasted, light blacberries, coffee and lots of dark chocolate.

Nice mix of floral and citrusy, fresh hops in the nose along with some roasted barley. Opaque black with a lasting, tan foam cover. Nice toasted malt flavour with vanilla, but a bit weak and a touch sour. Moderate bitterness from hops as well as black malt. Light to medium body, moderately bitter finish, low carbonation.

RBESG Sheffield, day 2, The Wellington. Handpull. Deep dark reddish brown, light beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate. Flavour is chocolate, light roasted malts, some coffee and a bit of earth, bit of caramel nuttiness in there too. Thin and a bit watery, but nice.
