COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thirteen centuries ago, the Angel-Saxon missionary Liafwin came to East Holland to convert the people into Christianity. Liafwin was declared holy and got a new name: Lebuïnus; Latin for "Good Friend". We couldn’t come up with a better name for this rough beer, brewed gentle and traditionally in Salland, a region still home to Lebuïnus. This is our Dubbel. 8716685010259

Bottle @ homr. Aroma shows infection, tart cherry and brett. Flavour is quite sour with bitter liquorice and sweet malt. Yeah this is infected allright.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch nach getrockneten Früchten, Hefe, Karamell. Geschmack hefig, Karamell, Früchte, leicht gewürzig.

Pours a deep chestnut brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits, chocolate. Flavour is light sour with light to medium sweetness. I don’t get all the "infected" comments. After having a few very unsatisfying brews from this brewery, this was a pleasant surprise.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a deep chesnut brown colour with bags of froth that took a while to settle. The aroma is a brett yeasty with a little fruit. The flavour is a little tart and somewhat sour with some zesty red berry fruit which sits nicely on the palate. Quite a refreshing and tasty beer in fact and not your standard Dubbel by any stretch of the imagination. I liked it though and the flavour improved as it warmed and got some air.

helder amber/rood met schuimig kaki kraag
aroma: zoet, caramout
smaken: medium zoet, matig bitter, appelzurig, donker fruit, caramout
medium body, dun, hoog co2,
fris mediteraans achtig, ik vraag mij af of de zuurgraad bij dit bier hoort !

33cl bottle @ home. Dark amber brown color with a huge rocky white head that lasts for a fairly long time. Smell malts and some sweetness. Taste malts, some sweetness and a light sourness. Fizzy carbonation, low to medium body.

Loads of beige foam over a light hazy brown body. Aroma has delicate roast, barnyard, rustic malts, cheese. Brett? Very nice. Foaming and pleasant mouth filling feel. Smooth roasted sweet taste, light funky and fermented fruit ending. Well this was unexpected... maybe for the brewers as well? (33cl bottle from De Bierwinkel Leiden)

Bottle. Brown color. Pours a huge head. Should have been a moderately sweet dubbel but it isn’t. Malty peppery aroma and flavor. Initial malt. Tart and dry in the mouth. Brett (or wild yeasts) all over the place. Tastes like Orval with caramel. Intended? Probably not. Just an infection with wild yeasts and a favorable result.
