The quality of this top fermented, Bavarian beer speciality is unique to Austria. Normally weizenbier is brewed using a short fermenting process, but Salm has chosen to stick to the traditional, old brewing process. Because the yeast for weizenbier has an important role to play, we only use original yeast from a renowned Bavarian brewery.

On Tap at the brewbub. Trübes orangegoldenes Bier mit einer mittelgroßen leicht beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, leicht bananig, etwas Nelke. Geschmack phenolisch fruchtig, bananig, hefig, naja!

Draught at the brewpub. A Weizen how I like it. Mild, tasty and quaffable. Perfect. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

on tap at the brewpub. dark orange, looks a bit darker than the usual weizen, typically cloudy. medium big white head. typical Weizen smell, spicy, banana. medium body, light sweetness on the taste, citric, spices. quite decent nothing too special though.

Served a light brown/dark amber color, topped with a fairly decent white head. Notes of bananas, wheat, fruit and spices (star anise) in the aroma - pretty nice altogether. Taste is sweet, some banana notes and some star anise taste. Also in the finish. Not a fan of this style, but this one was quite nice.

Cunningham (6052) - Halden, NORWAY - MAY 3, 2014
Appearance: Cloudy yellow color with a fine big white head, that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Wheat, light banana, mild fruity and some yeast.
Palate: Medium (+) body. Tad sweet, and a mild bitterness. Rich to average carbonation.
Taste: Wheat, fruity, yeast and some sour notes.
Overall impression: The aroma was better than the flavor. Looked very inviting, but failed a bit.
Personal stats: On tap @ source

tap at the brewpub. Cloudy pale orangey yellow, large and creamy white head. Yeasty nose. Quite light-bodied, slightly fruity, shy finish. Nothing much wrong, except it’s a bit thin.

Tap at the brewery. Aroma is classic yeasty-banana-clove mixture, does not disappoint. That can not be said about the taste. Hazy yellow to golden colour, white head, moderate duration. Taste is admittedly not as good as the nose might suggest. Yeasty, clove, lightly citrusy, a bit sourish. The body is a bit thin and the dirnkability paradoxically suffers. Average one.

Tapped at the brewery. Metalic stench in aroma and taste. I guess the beer is NOT to blame according to previous ratings. There is definitely banana and a typical weissbier stuff present. Finish hoppy and a bit sour typical for a weissbier. Overall not bad but that metalic stench in aroma and taste destroy the overall experience.

On tap at brewpub. Clowdy golden with short lasting head. Strong banana nose, banana and malt also in the taste. Smooth texture, medium body.
