DA (2376), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Jan 19, 2008 On tap at the green dragon. This beer was not my thing, flat, overly sweet, not how I enjoy a dubbel. Salmon Creek’s belgian beers are always flat. I’ve had them at the brewery and other local bars, and every time they are flat and lifeless. The lack of carbonation lets the sweetness overwhelm, no dry finish, belgian yeast esters don’t stand out, no crispness, just bland. Fruity, creamy nose with lots of spiciness. Smooth and enjoyable, creamy and quite palatable. BrewDad (1630), Olympia, Washington, USA Apr 19, 2006 [Taster – Portland Oregon, Spring Beer Festival]
This was a great Belgian. Loved the deep dark colors in this brew. The aroma was very sweet and had an almost fruity nose. There where a lot of complex flavors in this beer and the malts added tot his greatly. The beer finishes nicely and would be a great beer to serve at anytime. Great beer.
