COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - May.

A contemporary twist on a mild, a dark opulence with a soft bitterness and toasty malts that delves into an ethereal crescendo of passion fruit, citrus and pine.

Cask, The Slug & Lettuce, Leicester. Copper with an off white foam. Aromas are blackberries with vinous aspects. Woody with toasted malts and weetabix. Tangy with yeast. Flavours are weetabix with slightly funky yeast and dry biscuit. Nutty and spicy with earthy and tart apple. Interesting.

Cask at Sandford Park Ale House. Pours clear black with ruby highlights, a medium, frothy beige head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is lightly roasted malt, coffee notes, earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is bitter dark malt, medium hops and moderate bitterness with a dry. Light body and medium carbonation.

wimpyjoe (3565) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2014
Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Deep ruby red with a thick creamy head. Dry tasting with a smooth malt texture. Not high on flavours with a very slight floral aroma although slips down the palate with ease.

minutemat (1387) - Ford, Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2014
Cask @ Coach & Horses, Shrewsbury. Good to see this back on. Pours dark brown with fast diminishing beige head. Decent mild with roasted malts, dark fruits, flavoursome nuttiness and a dry finish. Quaffable.

BlackHaddock (3511) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2013
Hand-pulled half-pint during the 34th Telford Beer Festival at the Crown Inn, Oakengates on 4 May 2013. Ruby to dark brown body with an off-white head. Coffee and dark chocolate esters hit your nose and these follow on into the taste, this is a lovely malty yet dry tasting Mild. It has a bitter finish but not overly so: I found it most enjoyable, it is a long way from the old Milds that used to be seen all over the UK, this had more body and flavour thoughout.

Cask gravity, The Crown Summer BF, Nuneaton, 01/06/12. Mahogany fringed with copper; brief beige head. Blackcurrant dusted with carbon aroma. Arresting, burnt dried curry leaf, blackcurrant taste; slight perfume, grapefruit. Roasted nut afters. Soapy and pleasant.

Cask-conditioned at the Portcullis, Clifton, Bristol 25/05/2012. Deep brown with a slight, off-white head. Big, citrus hop and car male aroma. Flavour had some slightly bread malts, caramel and plenty of fruit, before a dry finish. Good beer.

Cask conditioned handpump Market Porter London 16/05/12. Called a mild on the Salopian website but this way too hoppy. Their tweet to me agreed that it’s not really a mild, more a low ABV BIPA. We’ll leave it here as a mild but it’s stylistically impossible to place. Whatever it is though, it’s lovely. It is a dark mahogany coloured beer verging on black with an off-white head and lacing. It’s very very fruity and hoppy. Sweet malts. Berries and boozy. A great length of big fruity hops. Chocolate and lots of late bitterness. Superb. I’ve had some great Salopian beers obviously, but interestingly two of the best were in The Market Porter.

imdownthepub (10021) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2012
Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark Brown with off white head. Hoppy bright beer, bittersweet, fruity, hints of toffee. Leafy hops, lasting on the palate. Good beer.
