Historically the term used to describe a porter blended from a variety of ales, entire butt uses 14 different malts and 3 hops to recreate this forgotten style of porter. The beer is black/brown with a crisp white head and is distinctly vinuous. It has little hop character as essentially the flavour is derived from the malts. Malts used: pale Maris Otter, lager, wheat, pale crystal, dark crystal, dark chocolate, pale chocolate, black, roasted barley, caramalt, torrified wheat, amber malt, brown malt and malted oats.

Pours deep amber-brown from 12 oz. Malty aroma, some caramel and plums. Toasty flavor, vinous, with bitter finish. Full bodied low carbonation. Good beer, a bit of mish mash with no defining characteristics, but overall drinkable.

Pours a very dark brown with red highlights and a large off-white head. Aroma has some mild roastiness, mild chocolate, and a bit of fruit. Taste is similar-- some roastiness, some chocolate and fruit. Thin bodied and somewhat watery.

bottle from Sloth. dark brown body looks like the water when cleaning the nozzles on coke dispenser. lasting khaki head. slightly dusty nose with a bit of white pepper and very light toffee. thin body with a watered down marshmallow flavor and some light caramel. seems like it is just a bit past, but still enjoyable.

Creamy texture, a full-bodied, dark taste of malts, chocolate and coffee. A little bit roasted, very much enjoyed this one. Smooth to drink but not without some character to it.

Dark cola-colored beer with a thin fizzy eggshell head. Somewhat peculiar nose of toffee, raisins, and chocolate cake. Flavor is wonderfully malty with slightly toasted nuts, semi-sweet coffee, cocoa, licorice, and black strap molasses all coming through. A little wisp of bitterness finishes it. Despite all the nuances, it is still rather mild for a porter. A different and enjoyable porter.

A pretty good porter, but light than I was expecting. Has some roasted appeal, but the sweetness, some caramel and chocolate, dominates.

Bottle from backlog notes 07. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, bakers chocolate, some dark fruit character that has a slight tart note, thin compared to most porters, but the flavor is still there, this was one of the first English porters I had and not something I would revisit.
