Historically the term used to describe a porter blended from a variety of ales, entire butt uses 14 different malts and 3 hops to recreate this forgotten style of porter. The beer is black/brown with a crisp white head and is distinctly vinuous. It has little hop character as essentially the flavour is derived from the malts. Malts used: pale Maris Otter, lager, wheat, pale crystal, dark crystal, dark chocolate, pale chocolate, black, roasted barley, caramalt, torrified wheat, amber malt, brown malt and malted oats.

Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Aroma and Taste is of dark roasted chocolate malt, caramel, dark fruit esters, even some dark berry notes mixed in as well, yeast and mild bitterness on the end from the dark roasted malt. A smooth medium body with mild carbonation. The finish is sweet dark roasted chocolate malt, caramel, dark fruit and berries with mild dry bitter roasted ending with lingering chocolate and caramel flavors. Overall a very delightful, tasty and enjoyable English Porter. very nice.

@Sergioís in Louisville. Clear dark ruby brown with a bubbly ivory head, slashes of lace. Taste is roasted caramel malt. There is slight smoke, slight coffee, and slight chocolate as well, all contributing through the palate to a balancing bitter finish that is accented by light fizz on the sides of the tongue. Simple, yet well conceived. A keeper!

Drank from a bottle at home. Sweet and slightly smoky taste. Probably due to the low alcohol content, there is a watery aftertaste. Not bad but not good.

500 ml bottle. Dark ruby bown colour, thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, with notes of coffee and milk chocolate. The flavour is dryish, roasted malty, with notes of berries and coffee, and a roasted hoppy finish. Pretty good.

Pours dark brown with ruby highlights. Hard to tell if itís cloudy, but the beer looks pretty clear in the light. Nice, glowy color. Medium tan head. Lots of fine bubbles. After a few minutes, thereís still a decent film of bubbles. Iím getting chocolate maltiness as the primary flavor in the aroma, but itís backed up by a mix of fruit, nutty brown malt, caramel, molasses, light coffee/roast and a hint of wood. Thereís a lot of malt complexity to this beer. Very nice toasty malt notes. A rather rich aroma for <5% abv. The flavor is a touch weaker for me. The malt complexity is still there, but some of the rich sweetness is gone. It starts out with a fairly simple sweetness before bringing in some nice fruity flavors and takes its time pulling out the chocolate and roast. Good finish with roast, tobacco and earth hops lingering for some time. Mouthfeel is smooth. Drinks big for the abv. British brewers know how to pack flavor into lower abv beers. Sits a bit light on the palate, though. Not the best impersonation of cask mouthfeel for a bottled beer that Iíve found, but itís always a losing effort and itís still nice. This is an enjoyable porter with lots of rich British malt flavor in a relatively small package. I would love to see more American brewers make a serious effort with this sort of beer.
