COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
OG: 1044
Colour: Bright Gold
Style: A wheat beer very much in the modern English style – served bright and top fermented. The recipe uses a small amount of fresh lemon to compliment the citrussy flavours produced by the wheat malt. Each of the Hops used, Goldings, Saaz and Cascade add fresh lemony flavours to the brew.
History: Originally Salopian was renowned (notorious?) for producing some fairly outlandish beer, usually brewed with wheat and fruit flavoured. Most of these were surprisingly well received, but mainly in speciality outlets or in bottles. Lemon Dream was devised to be far more subtle – basically a slightly lagery, lightly bittered beer with a hint of lemon. We felt that this would appeal to a broader market and this has definitely been the case, with many ‘traditional’ Pubs running the beer as a regular through the spring and summer. It has found favour at competitions too, winning an award at CAMRA West Midlands 4 years on the bounce as well as at SIBA West Midlands too.

Cask@The Post Vaults, Birmingham. Golden beer with a strong head. The aroma is fruity and dry, and the flavour is dryish with a degree of citrus. Overall a reasonable dry beer with lemony qualities. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drunk at Birmingham Beer Festival. I was drunk. At least by the end. Not when I had this. This was a dream. No it wasn’t. It was a drink. It had some lemon. Ok. Bit different to other stuff and nonsense.

Cask at Birmingham Beer Fest 2012; Didn’t realise this was a wheat beer when I was tasting as poured a clear gold, no haziness that you expect with a wheat. Fruity aroma, tastes very citrusy with a bitter hop bite.

Cask@britannia, Blackheath(JDW). Gold colour small white head. Very faint aroma of lemon. Taste is more of a sour taste than a specific lemon taste. Quite nice drink though, could drink all night.

Cask @ GBBF ’12. The pour’s light golden with no head. The nose is light lemonade and sugar. Some angel food cake. The taste is much the same. Some lemonade, some sugary whipped cream and sweet wheat. Light body, drinkable. Actually quite refreshing! On good form, too.
