Colour: Straw
Style: The intention of the hop character is to be pronounced but not all encompassing, dry but not overtly bitter and a tiny hint of sweetness to add body. Its one of the most expensive of the Salopian beers to brew as it relies heavily on expensive hops from the US.
History: The creation of Oracle came about because of the employment of a new member of staff and a trip to a local pub. Jake Douglas joined the brewery in early 2008 having spent a decade at a brewery synonymous with hoppy beers; a promise was made early on to brew a beer to his taste. The trip to the pub was to try a beer of this style. The ambition was to create a balanced low gravity golden beer with a striking hop character. After a period of test brews Oracle was born.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 18 Feb 2013. Poured a clear, mid golden colour, with a dense white head and good lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits, citrus hops and golden syrup. Full flavours; grapefruit hops, tangy fruit and a biscuity malt backbone. Finish was balanced bitter hop resin, brown sugar and lemon zest.

500 ml. bottle dated best before 2/11/15. It pours a very clear pale gold color with a disappearing white head. The aroma has nice biscuity malt with hints of honey and citrusy, tropical fruity hops. The flavor is a little more floral and piney with citrus and a good balanced base of bready, biscuity malt. Light bodied and a bit watery near the finish, which is also moderately piney bitter. Pretty nice session beer.

Cask at NERAX. Straw yellow, white bubbles. Fresh citrus aroma, some sileage and bramble. Quite intense hoppiness. Slight bready malt flavour with a lovely citrus hop character. Lingering hops in the aftertaste, quite dry and nice and smooth. Simply one of the best beers at 4% or less I’ve ever tried.
