4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
3rd September 2015
Craft Tottenham Court Road. Almost clear paleish gold beer, good white head. Palate is light, mild fine carbonation. Light malts, mildly sweet. Vibrant, if light, tropical fruits and fruit salad sweets. Little sweet floralness. Decent hop spices peps up the smorgasboard of hop fruits. Finishes light with orange, lemon and mango rising from the mass of fruits. For a 4.0% beer - great complexity and flavour depth. Great stuff.

Clean finish, with light hop resin, more soft pine, lemon rind, hints of grapefruit. Very good stuff. Well balanced throughout.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2014 This is a rewrite: in front of the original. Half-pint, cask in The Station Hotel, Oakengates on 15th Oct 2014. I might have been a bit harsh on my first rate and this beer is better than I intimated. Scores altered to square up a mini unjustification! Still a citrusy golden brew but it’s OK really.
Yet another golden ale with a citrus, lemony characteristic from Salopian: this seems to be their ’trademark’ style.
Pale gold in colour with a good white head that produced lacing in my pint sleeve glass: my local Wetherspoons staff know how to pull a pint, so it looked fine and was in good condition.
The whole thing was lemony: smell, look and taste. Whatever hops are used completely dominate the brew and give the malt content no room to maneuver what so ever.
If you fancy a watered down drink of ’Toilet Duck’ this is for you, otherwise leave it alone. Just to citrusy for my taste buds.

Cask, Swan & Rushes, Leicester. Golden with a thin head. Aromas are pithy grapefruit with woody notes and lemon. Biscuit with light caramel malts. Yeasty with floral aspects. Flavours are crisp citrus with grapefruit bitterness. Biscuit and peanut malts. Pithy and grassy with a peppery, dry aftertaste. Pretty good.
