The colour of an eclipse, the aroma is of char, chocolate & roasted malts and then the flavour of pine & citrus ascends over the palate, bringing the full bodied finish to a dizzying height.

Opaque dark black - brown beer. Big fluffy pale tan head. Palate is slightly crisp and semi dry. Smooth and light dark malt. Light malt cream. Mild minerals and a mild floral citrus hops. Dry finish. Okay - needs a bit of backbone.

330ml Bottle: BBD Mar 2014: poured into a Gordons Thistle shaped glass at home on 5 Oct 2013. Really dark body, huge beige head. Heavily roasted malt feel to this brew: almost burnt at times. Black coffee and dark chocolate with toffee notes in both the nose and taste. I love it when this brewery brews something like this (instead of their regular citrus tasting, golden beers), it shows they can produce flavoursome beers worthy of praise. Most likely the best Salopian beer Iíve ever had: my taste buds however are vastly different to most peoples. Pouring it into a thistle shaped glass also enhanced itís appeal, to my eyes anyway.

I didnít realise this was a black IPA until I read this page. A ruby reddish brown beer. Great aroma and flavour and very well balanced. Defies its abv.

330ml bottle from Valhallaís Goat. Dark brown / black, not much head. Air freshner aroma. Treacle chocolate malt flavour, bitter aftertaste. Not a typical Black IPA but still a decent beer.

(Bottle): Pours very dark brown, medium off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, citrus, chocolate. Some sweet fruity notes balanced by a bitter dark chocolate flavour and roasted malt. Some hops present but not enough to be a big impact. Nice but lacking.

330ml bottle shared at home. Pours black with a decent off-white head. Aromas are subdued compared to other black IPAs Iíve had, and definitely veer towards the maltier side of things - toffee and coffee. Some pine and citrus coming through. A good rounded bitter-sweetness, but a bit thin on the palate. Not bad.

Bottle. Didnít pour it. Smells very malty, caramel, biscuit. Taste is very hoppy, zesty, but with overbearing biscuity malts, caramel, toffee. Too much for me. Boomerang more up my alley.

I picked this up at Jacks, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon 3rd August 2013 consumed in a field at Cropredy Fairport festival 8th August 2013 Pours murky (canít see through) dark brown off-white head. Quite soft in mouth, a little roasty and bitter. Juicy citrussy beer, drinks well for the abv, supping whilst watching Edward II. V.good beer. A6 A3 T8 P4 Ov14 3.5
