Cask Conditioned Handpump Market Porter Borough Market. A dark brown coloured beer with a tight whitish head and lace. A great chocolatey nutty aroma which is welcoming from afar. Same in the mouth with especially good nuttiness and late on chocolatey coffee. A smooth very tasty beer.

30th June 2010. On taop at the Kings Head freehouse Tollesbury, Essex. Clear brown beer. Not much head. Soft smooth palate. Sweet hazlenuts, red fruit in the undertone. Mellow chocolatey coffee. Some coconut as well. Finishes soft with some sweeter red fruit coming to the fore. An outstanding English draft beer - best I have had in a very very long time.

Ruby brown with metalllic fuggles, peppery goldings plenty of coffee and a hint of chocolate on the nose. Fluffy cream head soon fades to just a lacing. Roasty with lactose flavours, hazlenut and a hint of coffee with a bittersweet finish.

Bottle from Microbar, £2.39. Now this is going to make my end of year ratings very difficult, wonderful once again from Saltaire. A superb porter, hazelnut, coffee, caramel nose. Pours ruby brown with a fluffy beige head which quickly turns to a lace. Roasted malt, nuts, hazelnut and a hint of coffee taste. Smooth in the mouth, quite light with a low carbonation, bittersweet finish. This is a superb beer, very impressed.

Colore rosso/bruno, limpida, con una schiuma abbondante, cremosa e persistente. Aroma di malti tostati con note erbacee, di cioccolato, caffè e vaniglia. Attacco dolce, maltato, che lascia subito il posto a una buona acidità. Buon corpo e scarsa carbonatazione. Finale secco, amaro. Senzazioni retro olfattive di cioccolato e nocciole.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at the Trafalgar. Dark amber? A very light colour for a porter. Excellent, well behaved bubbly white head and superb condition. Flavour is... wow. Really unusual stuff. Thick and rich chocolate, the coffee is clearly freshly ground and a gorgeous, lingering nutty peat finish. Delicate but glorious lick of hops too. Really interesting. Smooth and creamy and all round excellent.

Pours dark ruby, with creamy head. Smells of chocolate syrup. Palate of medium roast, tasting a little of lactose in the sweet beginnings. Chased with a nice hop hit, leaving some coffee/dark chic bitterness. Easy drinking and tasty, but not a real roasty porter.

Cask at the Bricklayer’s Arms BF, 2011. Clear amber pour with a light film. Mild coffee nose with faint roast. Medium sweet with some light mocha and hazelnut, faint leafy bitters. Light in body with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet with some brownie and coffee beans. Nice beer.

29.03.2013. 0,5l Bottle. Thanks to Gunnar! @tkk. Hazelnut coffee brown. Dark amber colour with off-white head. Aroma of dark and mild sweet malt. Rather soft beer with medium body. Flavours of dark faintly roasted malts. Moderate to low bitterness. Notes off sweet coffee back there together with some dark syrup flavours. Very soft beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 McWorta (234) - LUXEMBOURG - FEB 10, 2013
Vanilla, chocolate, toffee, coffee and slightly earthy, light notes of earth & leather hints of nuts on top of the gums. Orange-amber small white light head. Nice balance, creme brule, coffee and caramel pudding. Light bitter and medium sweet, full body, slick and light lively.
Drink dessert! Congenial after a meal for 1 or 2 to drink. Enjoyable beer!
