cask in one of the McSpoons in Sheffield. very pale for a porter, but true to form in flavour.slight burnt flavour, some degree of slightly sweet caramel, but led by coffee and edged with hazelnut (unsurprisingly). tastes a lot nicer than it sounds!

Bottle 50cl. Clear dark amberbrown, small frothy light tan head, mostly diminishing, fair lacing; aroma sweet malt, maple syrup, bit roasty, coffee, nutty notes (hazelnut, peanut), hint of chocolate; taste medium sweet and bitter, coffee; medium body, oily to watery texture, average carbonation, aftertaste mild bittersweet; a smooth porter and though a bit on the thin side quite nice.

Cask at the Express Tavern, deep brown with a fine head and light coffee aromas. Body is nutty, with sweet dark malt, touches of coffee and bread and a grassy bitterness.

theres a mild coffee and nut thing going on in the aroma, dark amber coloured body and ive poured it so theres no head. the taste is a bit bitter nut then a quick smooth coffee but mostly some weird metallic taste is ruining it for me.

Cask handpull. Black, small white head. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is thin malt and coffee, some tangy hazelnut, background chocolate. Nice enough and delivers on its promises, but the flavour is a little thin for me.

Bottle as a gift. Pours brown with small head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee. Taste of chocolate, nuts, coffee, bit watery but smooth bitterness at the end proves that. Actually I like this ona.

I stumbled upon this beer in one of the Tallinn’s pubs. I ordered Põhjala Põhja Konn - great beer, but once i tasted the Saltaire’s porter ordered by my friend, i couldn’t take my eyes off her glass.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark amber with a frothy off white head. The aroma is sweet malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet with a malt, chocolate hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Plenty going on here. The sweetness is kept nicely in the background too.
